Such an awesome review! Great work!!

Well-written and edited, today's BOTD is a self-help book that examines the lifestyles, mindsets, and spiritual and mental health of those in the western world. Interested readers will find this to be engaging and thought-provoking. I think I may give this one a try! Thank you again for the helpful review! :-)

The author's claim that civilized people are in fact spiritually imprisoned by the force of institutions and laws is interesting. I find it interesting to note that modern man thinks too much about the future while forgetting the present. It is commendable that the book is professionally edited.

Wonderful review, I must say.
I share the sentiment that western civilization is not as great as the pictures painted. Anxiety and depression is the result... It's the system that was designed to be enjoyed the few at the expense of the larger population.

I enjoyed reading through your review, and I'm definitely checking out the book.

Sounds like a great book. In my opinion, there is always a good and bad side for everything. It's the mentality that the person choose to live by, that makes the difference. Thank you for the great review

I really enjoy self-help books but this one seems to be a tad bit negative. Nevertheless, hopefully it helps someone in some way. Congratulations on book of the day!

LinaMueller, thank you for the great review. I agree with your summation and find the points you highlighted interesting and intriguing. For this alone I would be interested in checking out this book. I am surprised that anyone would feel comfortable putting on paper the ills of modern 'civilization'. Kudos to Chet Shupe for his bravery.

Special thanks to this review. I would say the flaws didn't give a thumbs down but rather an eye-catching event of how civilization has added more harm than good. I'll give it all it takes to read this book

Self help books are best to grow personally overall in all the aspects of life. Although it depends on the topic in which the self help book is written under. Thank you.

I've given up on self-help books. I think they're cliched, but I'll check it out before I write this off totally. Congratulations on winning #BOTD!

This is a well detailed review. Having two-third of time dedicated to yourself is a luxury a lot of people cannot boast of. I think this book would be helpful to a lot of people. Great review.

Non fiction, self help books are not my cup of tea but I should admit that to figure out what humans need to be happy is very tempting. I'm sure the book will find its readers. Congratualtions on becoming BOTD!

A unique perspective about modern civilization sounds interesting, but I am not going to lie, these types of self-help books do not appeal to me. A reader would really need to be in the right frame of mind to get into this. Thanks for the detailed review.

I am totally curious about the Piraha. Living in the moment is a wise way of life. I also agree that we humans have created wants that are masquerading as needs. The pandemic is teaching us a lot of lessons, mainly about the true essentials of life. But saying that marriage isn't good for women seems absurd to me.

I'm sorry to say this is definitely not a book for me. While I agree the author has an interesting perspective of human nature and modern civilization, I will be passing on this one. Thank you for such an informative review.
