"Gods Kingdom 1313 The Secret Pain" by Mark Hour is a story about how people deal with trying times. Some ask, “Why, God?” and then blame God for not answering their prayers. The author, Mark Hour, had lived a difficult life that affected his relationships and he served time in prison. Mark was not willing to throw in the towel, instead he decided to embrace the word of God. While some will say that criminals will turn to Jesus when they are incarcerated, some really mean it and change their lives. He now lives his life with a sense of calm and he tries to help others travel through life with God by their side. People give up on God because He does not answer their prayers the same day. God hears our prayers and if they are sincere, He answers prayers on his timetable. Faith in God is a very important belief in my life and if what I am praying for is something God believes is right for me then He might answer my prayer but I do not expect it to happen immediately. The book includes eight well-written chapters. The first chapter focuses on emotional pain and the author provides space for the reader to answer pointed questions, like a workbook. The second chapter explains the seven swords of sorrow that afflicted Mary’s heart. Mark discusses how mismatched expectations can result in heartache and the best approaches to resolve the anguish. Mark also shares personal experiences from his childhood, teen years, failed relationships and marriage. He focused on how honesty and mutual respect are so important in a relationship. He also discusses his time in prison and his belief that prisons should reform and rehabilitate convicted people instead of just punishing them. It is very obvious that even paroled convicts will never have the life they deserve since their conviction is always there in his background check. One needs to lead a life that reflects God’s image. Peace, calm and love will lead to a life well lived and have a positive impact on others. This is an excellent book.

You really captured the essence of the book in your review, simple and rich, especially the emotional questions and the connection between personal pain and spiritual healing. I particularly like personal experiences being part of book with such themes. The Bible extracts is another highlight you didn't fail to mention. Nice BOTD
