Until now I had never heard the term "counterculture." This is a book that touches on the theme of finding yourself through different difficulties that test what you have learned and what you have believed in. Focusing on spiritual themes, this book is a great reading option.

Nice review! I think that it will be interesting to read about Height Ashbury and the San Francisco life back then. I lived through the 60's as a teenager, but in the Chicago area.

Spiritual journeys make for timeless, engaging plots. I also get to know more about life in the 1960s, so the book's pretty unique. Congrats!

In this book I feel like following the protagonist on their quest for peace and love in the 1960s. In addition, I hope the book will describe the US of the 1960s--that draws me to the book so much.

This sounds like a coming-of-age story set during a pivotal time in American history. It includes the search for meaning amidst social and political upheaval.

Thank you for your great review. I'm glad you enjoyed it and the editing was wonderful too. I did enjoy the sample and generally like memoirs too. The author is a little older than me and I can relate to some of what he wrote in the sample. I have added it to my list of books to read and hope many others will enjoy it too.

The Divine Love Memoir is about the spiritual journey of Sankarshan Das. I am not a fan of memoirs. I read the sample and I found it hard to follow. I might skip this book. Readers who love memoirs will enjoy reading this book. Thanks for the review. Congrats on the BOTD!

Through the eyes of the protagonist, we witness a wild time like the 60s, with its cultural revolution, its vibrant music and its social chaos, but also with its emptiness and despair hidden behind the facade of free love.

I completely agree that "The Divine Love Memoir" is a captivating journey through the 1960s counterculture. I also enjoyed how the author explored different spiritual teachings and the protagonist's search for meaning. The blend of the historical setting and the protagonist's inner journey was very well done. I also found the description of the Haight-Ashbury district quite immersive.

The author travels from a small town to a big city to find love and peace. The incredible journey takes him to meet hippies and spiritual leaders. Will his quest for peace be achieved? The self-reflections give the reader a broader understanding of the author’s emotions.

A profound and engaging exploration of the 1960s counterculture, "The Divine Memoir" offers a rich narrative of personal growth and spiritual discovery. Sankarshan Das's vivid storytelling and accessible writing style bring the protagonist's journey to life, making it a compelling read for those interested in memoirs and spiritual quests. The book's thoughtful examination of philosophical themes may challenge some readers, but it ultimately adds depth and meaning to the story. A well-deserved five-star rating for this insightful and inspiring memoir.

I especially appreciate how you discussed the book's focus on spiritual exploration and the role of spiritual leaders. While I enjoyed the accessible writing style and how you describe the author’s use of dialogue and inner reflection, I'm curious to see what other readers think about the more complex themes that you mentioned. I am intrigued to read it.
