Great detailed review! From the book's sample and your review, I have picked up that the author has an attitude that I don't find pleasing. I will pass on this book, but thanks for the review!

Racism, tribalism, and prejudice are sensitive topics but also important social issues that should be addressed. I'd love to learn more about the historical analysis of these issues in this book and how they manifest and are perpetuated in society.

I appreciate your review. The book's topic is incredibly complex and frustrating. It's an important subject that requires everyone's effort to address. In your review, you mentioned that the book contains a lot of statistics and information. While I understand the importance of statistics, I'm curious whether the book also addresses the emotional aspects of the topic. I guess I will have to read the book to find out.

Dr. Anthony M. D’Agostino’s book “Prejudice, Racism, and Tribalism” offers valuable insights into racial polarization, attitudes, and the biological roots of tribal prejudices. It’s a blend of memoir and historical survey, inviting readers to consider alternative paths beyond subjugation. 📚🌟

Dr. D'Agostino provides a thoughtful, frank, and compassionate exploration of race and racism in America today, using both research and personal experiences as a foundation. Aimed at white Americans, this book offers a serious examination of current political and racial divides without being preachy or politically correct. Readers have praised it for being deeply engaging, clearly articulated, and thoughtfully presented.

You have given an insightful review. It's good you stated the possibility of a reader getting offended. Actually, the issue of racism is quite hard to discuss without hurting anyone's feelings. Congratulations on BOTD

A book about racism and tribalism and all the difficulties that come with these concepts. A very interesting book and the sample was riveting to read, but thanks for saying that the book may come off as offensive to some people, I will read it more carefully then. Great review!

It's definitely controversial to say that it's better to be white than black, and I'm definitely going to skip this book, but I appreciate the author's honesty. Racism and its prejudices are very important topics as they are still so prevalent today.

These concepts of racism, tribalism, and prejudice are very sensitive and yet timely and relevant so I’m looking forward to digging into this book to partake of the author’s knowledge about these and be enlightened at the same time.

I, however, think some parts of this book may come off as offensive to some people. Even though the author clearly states his stance on racism as he defines it, some of it may make some readers uncomfortable with the book. For instance, on page 96, the author, in stating things 'we can agree upon', adds that it is 'better' to be white than black. This and some other instances may seem offensive to a black person, discouraging them from reading the book. Again, in defining these concepts, the author, in some instances, sounds dangerously close to undermining and trivializing the experiences of people of color in societies like ours.
The quote you used proves the importance of being precise when choosing one's words. Being white is easier in a society that normalizes and institutionalizes racism—in the same way that it's easier being thin, able-bodied, and heterosexual. But not better.
Other than this, it seems like quite a thought-provoking book. Thank you for your review.

I am surprised that the author, in a book such as this, would state that it is better to be white than black. Without any context included with this statement it can be interpreted in many different ways. I am trusting that this statement means that white people have more privileges. I am hoping that this book offers some useful solutions.

The author has an engaging writing style for a topic that could have been written quite dryly to avoid offence. I appreciate the author's clear definitions of racism, prejudice, tribalism and bigotry. I also appreciate the author's application of his own experiences.
