Monica's resilience and her tireless desire to improve herself. The strongest message that emerges is his ability to face the challenges that life throws at him, particularly as a young immigrant in foreign lands.

Nice plot. The way she decided that she needed to find herself and be someone. Also the resilience she developed along the way of her adventure. And building an identity in family for yourself can be adventure in itself. People will consider you selfish. Thus the name of the book. They love you until you start thinking for yourself.

This sounds like a powerful story of survival in a foreign country. I'd be curious to know what situation(s) the title, They love you until you start thinking for yourself comes from.

Monica's story fascinated me. Her resilience and open-mindedness are qualities we should all strive for and celebrate. The journeys of immigrants like her are often riddled with profound challenges, but her unwavering determination to succeed is truly inspiring. I commend her for her efforts to empower others through her story. Thank you for sharing such a thorough review.

Thank you for your wonderful review. I'm glad you liked the book. Monica is a very brave person. I do enjoy memoirs, though leaving home without telling her parents might be scary for me since my son is almost that age. I think this book has a lot to teach many people about people and life in general. I've added it to my list of books to read.

Waal, after reading the review, I felt like I read the book myself. The reviewer actually explains the character of Monica as very exceptional. You know it takes ages for a female of African origins to leave her family mainly because of societal norms and values, but for Moning in this book, she breaks the ground. It inspires a lot and this triggers a curiosity in me to read this book since I like personal growth and development as well as entrepreneurship. I also learnt that a person should go beyond the horizons to see how other people are doing it as clearĺy demonstrated by Monica. It is very important also to have trusted family members who will always stand with you in difficult times just like Monica's brother. Thank so much reviewer for a well narrated piece of information which not only inspires one to read but activates the authorship spirit in me.

To leave Nigeria and set out for Poland when only 17 years old, must have taken a lot of courage. Monica sounds like a brave person who faces her challenges head-on, e.g., when she has to overcome her fear of flying. Thank you for your informative review.

Thank you for your review. The author writes an interesting story of her life. I enjoyed her description of her siblings. She loved her mother's hard work and her time with her in her shop. Her father and Monica have a good relationship. This is appropriate reading for teens and up. Congrats on the author's #BOTD.

This really sounds like an inspiring story. For Monica to start a journey at the age of 17 already, shows true determination and spirit. Monica seems like a very open minded person and one that don't shy away from raising her opinions or note her believes, which is splendid. Thanks for a great review Congrats on BOTD .
