Based on the summary and other readers’ reviews, I am anxious to read this book. I have struggled with a relationship with a narcissist and spent so many years not even knowing what “gaslighting” was or that I was a victim of it. I would love to read the author’s perspective and the coping mechanisms she used to break free from this debilitating situation.

A lot of people try to stay in this kind of relationship, which is so irritating to witness. The thought of you being able to change that person is so wrong. Why don't you just leave? Unless you are as toxic as that person, you deserve each other. Nice review.

Through her experience, she not only shares her story, but also explains super important things like when someone manipulates you so much that you doubt your reality and how narcissism and codependency work.

Shelley story of her life, it's an inspiration to all of the poor girls and boys who are in abusive relationship with their loved ones. Shelley had a very tough life since she was young when her parents got divorced, she didn't allow that circumstances to be opstircles to archive her dreams to be educated, and she became a lawyer. She now educate ourselves that as long you work hard to get out in your abusive love relationship you can make it and education is one of the best weapon to fight challenges of life.

It touches on very deep and delicate subjects... the protagonist is involved in a series of situations from a very early age that lead her to experience many discouraging things. This book is an autobiography.

Shelley L. Levisay's memoir, "Love Isn't Always the Answer," details her experience in a toxic relationship with Matthew. When Shelley was a little girl, her parents divorced. She became a successful lawyer despite having a dysfunctional family and a bad social life. She eventually met a narcissist who pretended to care about her and give her attention because she was someone who craved attention and sought to please others. Matthew abuses and manipulates her as their relationship develops. Shelley appears to be caught in a vicious circle of physical, psychological, and emotional abuse.
It's an eye-opening, powerful, and thought-provoking read that skillfully combines personal experiences with insightful observations. Well done.

Abuse is the one of most vile things on this earth. The problem normally resonates not from the individual but what said individual went through. However, to me that's not an excuse to be the same, as your Momma or Daddy and their ill behavior. Life is about choices and you can choose to be better than that.
Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.

Although the struggle against abuse creates tension and is realistic, the character having a "rags-to-lawyer" background may not resonate with readers.

I believe knowing your mental health, specially in today's time is a lot essential factor because even when we know that something that doesn't feel right is going on in our life we, a lot of times tend to ignore it, shake it off, thinking that it'll get better and it's all good. I experienced it and I wish someone told me not to let go that time. Spreading the awareness through books is one of the best ways. Reading out the review seemed promising that it raises the issues we ignore unknowingly. It's good to understand different perspectives of life from different people and this book is one of them. Looking forward to read it.

This memoir seems like a compelling and raw account of resilience and self-discovery. Shelley’s journey through a toxic relationship and her struggle to break free from abuse is both heartbreaking and thought-provoking. It leaves me curious about how she finds her strength and what comes next in her story.

I think it's brave of Shelley to share her story with the world and help people recognize the signs of a toxic relationship. Unfortunately, I don't read nonfiction, so I'll probably skip this read.

Your review has made me want to recommend “Love Isn't Always the Answer” to my friends and family, especially those that are younger. It's so important to educate people about the dangers of toxic relationships, and the many issues that stem from undiagnosed mental health problems. I think that by reading this book, people will feel more empowered to take control of their lives, to love themselves, and not to settle for less.

"Love Isn't Generally the Response" is a drawing in diary of Shelley's excursion through a harmful relationship, investigating subjects of misuse, psychological well-being, and self-revelation. Mixing individual encounters with significant bits of knowledge, it's an educational, effective, and interesting read. Well done BOTD!

Love Isn't Always the Answer is a bold memoir of Shelley's life. As I read the first pages of the sample, I could feel the pain the author went through. I laud Shelley for boldly sharing her life story to the world. Thanks for the review. Congrats on the BOTD!
