Despite being away from family, Jimmy found love and warmth in the Home and grew up doing good to others. Hard work and perseverance always pays good rewards. Thanks for the review.

I love that this is an example of how strong, positive, loving influences can guide a kid to a rich, bright future. It’s fabulous that the Strawbridge Home was able to preserve the family relationships while also providing an encouraging home for James.

Thanks for the review, but I'm not a fan of memoirs, especially if they're "heartwarming and inspiring". I therefore will not be reading about Jimmy's life.

I appreciate your thorough review. Reading a sample and reading your review made me feel a little nostalgic about my own father and family. Even though the story is worth telling and worth reading I don't think I can make it through reading the full book without feeling uncomfortable. I don't know much about my father and there is no one around anymore to ask questions. I'm sure the author did a good job, but I think I'll pass on this one.:cry2:

I have never heard of boys' homes where the youngsters were able to visit their families - I am pleased to learn of them. Jimmy's life sounds interesting, but memoirs are just not really my thing overall, so I am not yet sure if I will read the book. Thanks for your detailed review.

I enjoy reading memoirs and based on this excellent review it appears to be interesting. It does, however, seem to be a rather ordinary story of a man so I probably will not read it.

I like this story Like Saving Summer in A Jar by Amy Mathis. The most part of the book is about the life Jimmy who suffers from the difficulties at each and every step of his life. He is a hardworking person who wants to spend a successful life and works hard for the progress of the life. In the abssence of his mother and with his father he reaches the peak of his life. Thanks for your best review.

Great review. I like it when books are about a family member as it adds to such and intimacy and first hand knowledge of how a person was. Her grandfather had. Tough decision to make and even though hard, it seems as though it was the right one. I like that her father used the opportunity to make it the best as another family. I want to know more.

Even though I am not religious, this sounds like a touching biography of the author's father. I love how it is full of wisdom and overcoming adversity. Congrats on the book of the day! Great review.

This book sounds like a great tribute of a woman to her father. How Amy Mathis's father sounds like the kind of father everyone should have. A heartwarming and inspirational story. Also the love of a daughter for her father. I am not a fan of memoirs but based on the excerpt I read and your review, I think I may just change my mind. In this day and age it is nice to read something inspiring. Thank you!

If the youth of today learn that teachability is the only shortcut in life, they will refrain from the numerous get-rich schemes that often lands them in trouble. I hope this book will be a good manual for our youth. Thanks for your review.

I am not a big fan of biographies. Though this seems a good book, I will pass on this one. Thanks for the free giveaway and congratulations on being BOTD
