Besides being twins, it sounds much like my childhood, the description of the chickens really brought me back to the day and I can almost taste my grandma's fried chicken.....good thing she taught me how to cook and I now raise pigs and chickens myself.....can't seem to part with this one rooster though, he is a silky with a blonde mullet that I named after a friend of mine lol and they are like father and son lol

I love the simplicity and wholesomeness of this book, especially how sweet the cover is! You said she condensed her long life into less than 100 pages- that's impressive! I love elderly recounts of life, there's always so much to learn.

Memoirs are not my cup of tea but I've read the review and should say that there are lots of points I agree with. Children nowadays really have a sedentary lifestyle. They are glued to their smartphones and forget about the real life. Our parents and grandparents had a happier life, more live communication and they were mentally healthier. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

This book sounds like a wonderful celebration of life even through hardships and a history lesson all rolled into one. I look forward to reading it!

Thanks for the refreshing and enticing review. I have learned quite a lot about the book. Good to see that the author was able to share her own experiences in such a book that can be read in a single sitting. I will have to read it.

This story took me all the way back in a matter of minutes. It's puts me in a blissful place while reading all about how much different and decent life was back in the day. Family meant everything and the little things mattered most!

Before the era of technology, there were traditional ways of communication and entertainment. And these ways were thrilling for our grandparents. I hope Gertrude's work would be so inspiring.

I am impressed with the author's memory. I doubt if I'll be able to remember much of my childhood at eighty. Blame it on the cell phones, lol!

Thanks for the short and sweet review!

I have not read a simple and short book in a while. So it will be a good change to uplift the mood and be inspired.

It is really feat to record over eighty years of memories in 62 pages.

Good review! I don't know that this book is one I would really get into but you do make it seem interesting. It seems like a short, sweet read and I can certainly appreciate those. It is good to hear stories of how it was back before cell phones and computers. It is easy to forget that life existed before all this technology!

I read a sample of the book and wasn't inclined to read any further. I am not a fan of non-fictional works. After reading your review, I have had a change of heart. Dibs and Dabs sounds charming, lighthearted, and as you described a brief read. I am putting it on my "To Read" shelf. Thanks for changing my mind.

The first few pages of this book completely enthralled me. The detail with which she remembers her childhood is amazing and the chicken story reminded me of being little. Very good story thus far

This memoir sounds like a delight to read. I would want to experience that easy, childhood charm and be encouraged by the author's inner strength in overcoming a traumatic divorce. Truly inspiring.
