I enjoyed reading an excerpt from the book as well as your review. It reminds me of my German background. Extended families getting together for holidays was always fun. This does seem like a trip down memory lane, even for those with differing backgrounds.

This collection of essays about an Italian-American growing up during the 50s and 60s sounds beautiful. I love how the stories have humor but focus on family, faith, and devotion. Congrats on the book of the day. Great review.

:techie-reference: Congrats to Charles Sacchetti for BOTD honors. "It's All Good: Times and Events I'd Never Want to Change" sounds like a memoir well worth reading. Those of us who grew up in large, loud families can relate to Sacchetti's stories. I can't wait to read this book.

A non-fiction essay collection of the author's experiences revolving around his Italian-American family with a dash of humor and nostalgia with themes of community and the like will surely be interesting. Lovers of this genre may enjoy reading this fun book. Thanks for the great review.

This book sounds like a charming reminder and a memory of how life was in the old days. There was a greater sense of family life and routine that does not seem to exist today. A simple matter like getting a good haircut from a traditional barber, and the Sunday routine after a lunch, don't seem to exist today. I think that reading this book will be a pleasant yet nostalgic experience for me. Your review seemed to highlight the humour and the atmosphere of the book very well, and I enjoyed it.

This seems like a journal about family events and traditions! I appreciate that the author included personal experiences in his book as well. Due to the time frame, I do not think that I can relate to this book so I will be giving this one a pass. Great job on your review! :)

I like that the author included photographs at the beginning of each chapter. That would help to bring the stories to life. Thank you for your review.

That sounds interesting. He seems to have had a lot of interesting experiences while growing up. That full community experience is disappearing fast.

This sounds like an interesting anthology composed of memoir essays.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

It took only a few sentences into the book for me to be engaged in his story. For me, if I am not intrigued by the end of the first page I tend to move onto another book. This author led me further into his story like he was dropping pieces of candy step by step in front of me and I kept reaching for the next enticing morsel. I enjoyed the pages I have read so far and I believe I would equally find the whole novel work my time.

A series of stories about the author's life seems good and it would be an insight for anyone reading it.

Good review. Sounds like the author has had an interesting life. It’s always fun to read about someone else’s memories and comparing it to what I grew up with. I’ll add this to my must reads.

I'm not usually into reading memoirs. However, this book sounds interesting. I like it is a series of essays and can be read in spurts. Probably worth the read with genuine references to faith and family.
