From your review and the sample I read, it appears the book is set on the sea - his experience as a navy officer. However, I think he should have shortened the historical background of the navy ship he's stationed at.

I like it when memoirs or autobiographies are easy to relate to. There's usually a lot to learn from such stories, and they are inspiring. I am expecting such an experience from this book. Thanks for the detailed review and recommendation.

From the sample, the detailed storytelling gives a feeling that it is more of a mix of the history of a naval ship and a travel guide of the location it visited. I agree that another round of editing will be helpful. Thanks for the insights.

This is the volume 2 of Tom Wick’s autobiogprahy. In this book, we see his life in the US navy as well as his difficulties grappling with PTSD. I’m quite interested to read about his travels in different places and the inclusion of these places’ history.

Congratulations to the author for BOTD. This is the second book written by TOm wick about his life. The author’s descriptions of the places that they visited, the culture, topography, and history is also interesting.

I really respect the author for getting such a tough life story out there. I love that he was able to incorporate humor in the book as well in order to offset some of the darker scenes. Great review!

I appreciate the author's efforts in sharing his history and his struggles to overcome. However, the extensive naval details at the start of this volume did not capture my interest.

In the first book, Tom said he'd write the sequel if the first would sell well. I guess we know what happened. I do hope Tom gets a good editor, though.

I also hope he had a good experience in my country, the Philippines.

For anyone interested in Navy life and visiting places around the world, this book sounds like the one to read. Great review!

I think he had an interesting life but parts of it sound too dark for me.

I was unaware of all of the details in this book, as the sample was mostly just a historic journal that I found difficult to keep up with. I did like the first book's sample so far, so I will likely continue with that one. Nonetheless, congrats to the author on BOTD! :)

I'm not one for memoir's and while this book (from reading the sample) seems somewhat less dark than Wick's first installment about his life, it also gave the impression of being less interesting. I applaud the author on sharing his journey into the light, but I'm afraid I will be skipping this one as well. Still, thanks for the review.

I don't generally enjoy memoirs or travelogues, so I'll be passing on this one. Overall, I got the impression that this book was mostly self-indulgent on the author's part. It could be different while reading it, but it seems like the book is a bit all over the place. Thanks for the review.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting continuation of Mr. Wick's memoir. This time the book focuses on his time in the United States Navy as a Hull Maintenance Technician Fireman and how he dealt with the violence he suffered in the previous book. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

The more I read about this series the more I wonder if its a good fit for me. I am interested in his story and his journey, but the overally descriptiveness I keep reading about might push me away. If I have time I'll give it a go, but it won't be on the top of my list.
