This is one of the books this emotionally touched me Richard Rees lost his wife to cancer and his lovely daughter. The painful part is that the author write this book to give to the girl when she grows up to remind her of her lost memories, don't you think that it will be devastating to the young child.

Some type of cancers are hereditary, such as ovary cancer. The authors wife died at early forties and his daughter at twenty nine. A somewhat emotional read, it seems to me.

Death of loved ones can make someone to doubt the existence of God. And the question the author asked worth pondering on consistently. The book is really touching.

Not only did the author lose his wife Rachael to ovarian canccer but he then had to watch as the same terrible disease took his beloved daughter Carys too when she was just twenty-nine. I'm looking forward to reading it. Thank you!

This book has a deep, and introspective look at grief. The author shares his story of loss, first from his wife and then his daughter, from cancer. Many can empathize and learn from the author's experience through this thoughtfully written book. Congrats on the BOTD!

This sounds like a heart-wrenching book filled with loss. I sympathize with the author, hope he finds peace, and congratulates him on his courage in writing this book. I'm not into books like this so am skipping this and I hope this book finds its reader. Congratulations on BOTD and thanks for the excellent review.

I am astonished at the amount of strength it would have taken the author to write this book. Though I do not like to read sad books, I appreciate the bits of humour the author added to book. I feel that they will be a nice momentary break from such a sad message.

This sounds like quite a touching memoir about keeping the memory of a beloved daughter alive for his granddaughter. It must have been a wonderful gift for Abigail and healing for the author to write. Thanks for the detailed review.

I don't enjoy reading memoirs, it's nothing personal, I just get bored of them. I commend the author on his writing and being published tho.

Dear Abigail, by Richard Rees, is a heart-touching book that some readers can relate to. Losing a wife and a daughter to the same disease is painful and having to cope with such grief is unimaginable.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting and sad memoir about the author’s loss and the passing of his daughter. The author writes a letter to his young granddaughter for when she grows up, but the letter keeps growing as she grows up. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

Really not my cup of tea, since not only the book is written in my least favorite non-fiction genre, but more importantly because the story is centered around such personal tragedy. Sorry, I will have to skip, but congrats with BOTD!

The memoir shares insights about families dealing with a terminal illness. It also looks into blended families as an aftermath of the battle with the sickness. Congratulations on Book of the Day!

This is indeed a sad story. I would have loved to read this book but I think it will have me in tears as it might become personal for me. However, I wish everyone reading this book a great read.

Wao! what a heart touching storyline. What happened to the author is such a sad one. As I read, I will try not to get emotional. Another take away from the review is how a documented letter came to be a book. I am sure going to read this book.
