Fascinating review of "America: Lost in Place"! Your insights into how Dr. Brickner juxtaposes life in the 1950s with today's world are thought-provoking. I'm particularly intrigued by the author's use of personal experiences to highlight changes in everyday life, such as the shared "party line" for telephones. The book's focus on varied aspects like entertainment, technology, and morality reflects a comprehensive analysis of societal evolution. Thanks for recommending this enlightening read!

This is a great piece of analysis between life back in the 1960s/70s and life now looking at what is better or worse from the two periods. I appreciated the author's viewpoints and sentiments. The key takeaways at the end of each chapter are great summaries.

I agree, with the technological advancement in the world, there are also some disadvantages to it. Changes are constant. Life is changing drastically all over the world. I appreciate the author's perspective on the reference to American growth. Learning from the past to help grow and make a better choice for the future. I think this book is very specific to American audience. Thank you for your thoughtful review.

The book talks about the lives of Americans and gives a comparison about the lives of Americans between the past in the fifties and sixties.
A man who lived through that period and the present and the amazing technological progress it has achieved in an attempt to provide similarities.
The difference between them is the past with its beautiful values that we have begun to miss and the great transformation that America has witnessed in our present time.
And it changed our daily lifestyle, whether for better or for worse, and I can also say that other countries have the same vision, as the entire world has changed.
And it's changing, and it's not just America. A very wonderful book that I recommend to everyone to read.

Many of these little changes the book talks about are overlooked by people. I like that Brickner brings these little things to the spotlight for a much better outlook. Congrats on BOTD!!

I am not an American, but I can certainly relate: the same things are happening globally. The book is free, so I will look into Dr Joe's insights. I think we had many similar experiences. We also had a party line when I was young.

Amazing review. In this book, Joe shares how America has evolved through years from 1950's to present. He mentions how private conversations were difficult then, and now how where everything is available to watch movies with adult content and crime themes. He discussed every change in the aspects of life.
