The author's writing is refreshingly candid, offering exploration of their motivations, emotions, and actions.
The book is well-organized, with a clear chronological structure that makes it easy to follow the author's journey.
"A Memoir of a Deserter" is a must-read for anyone interested in memoirs, military history, or personal stories of redemption. Good review..

The teachings of different people in our lives impact us, and the same is true for the author, who learnt things while growing up. His insurance company job wasn't fulfilling. I would like to know his journey about how he finally felt that the army was his calling. His friendship with Lisa and Josh and his relationship with Simone are things I look forward to reading.

Raised by different people? Where were Thomas's parents? Or what happened to them? How did the author cope with weed addiction and there youth challenges? And, how did joining the army shape his purpose in life? Sounds like an awesome story full of interesting events and answers. I will read the book.

This captivating autobiography narrates the author's life, highlighting his childhood abandonment. The author pens the various life lessons he picked up from those who raised him. His relationship with Simone was a saving grace, and her loyalty during dark times was refreshing. He's a proponent of change, leaving an unfulfilling career to join the army.

People get meaning through different experiences in life. Therefore, I thank the author for sharing his journey of self discovery to readers across the world. It offers insight for others who may be seeking guidance or a sense of familiarity.

One of the things that I don't think I will voluntarily do is to join the army. I will show my patriotism in other ways. However, I have massive respect for folks who risk their lifes to protect their homeland. Much respect to the author.

I love how your review describes the different aspects of this author's life and relationships. I personally don't understand wishing to join the army but now that I am curious about this book I might grab a copy and find out why this person did!

Well, this is new. Biographies and autobiographies are just mind boggling. Writing about yourself is one of the easiest thing in the world but coming to terms with your experiences and regrets can be hard. So the author has done well. We all like to have loyal people in our lives but also take them for granted. This story is a lesson to everyone who take their loved ones for granted. Merci

Definitely not my cup of tea, because the memoirs as a genre don't inspire me in reading this book. No offense to anyone, but I prefer something with more intrigue and suspense to relax after a day of hard work, but congratulations with BOTD, anyway!
