I love the fact that the review was able to highlights interesting points in the book thatโ€™ll awaken the desire of its readers to read the book.
Historical biography are gem, because they highlight the story of past generations so the upcoming ones can learn from their experience, so they can continue from where they stopped and so they wonโ€™t make the same mistake they made.

This review of American Coastguards UNST & The B.P. Oily Blacks by Dave Husband in 1978 is very appealing, and one really feels that charm of the book. How a writer could really mix personal experience with historical references makes for a great memoir read. One can easily read through all these detailed anecdotes from his days in the construction industry to friendship with American coastguards. It is the author's memoir of his time as a quantity surveyor in the United Kingdom with the American Coast Guard, interspersed with a number of short stories. Whatever I read of the book seemed interesting. Congratulations on being declared 'BOTD'!

"AMERICAN COASTGUARDS UNST & THE B.P. OILY BLACKS(1978)" by Dave Husband is a memoir of the authorโ€™s very eventful life in the United Kingdom. Dave began his construction career as an apprentice surveyor at the age of 16. After gaining experience he moved to work in Liverpool and then he worked on contracts for decades in England, Scotland and Wales. When he was in Shetland, he made friends with American Coastguards, whom he wondered what their real reason was for being there, and he joined their rugby team. He spent time with the coastguards while traveling to a rugby match which led to adventures in several interesting places. Dave enjoyed his life in the construction industry but also had some bad memories from horrible experiences in the UK. The contract work brought many enjoyable times throughout the UK. How will these experiences affect his future life? One needs to read the book to learn the details of his construction life and his experiences later in life. Dave narrates the story and he includes many historical events like the two world wars, the nuclear bombs dropped on Japan, Churchill and the Queen of England. The other characters really enhanced the stories. The sample was short and described Daveโ€™s meeting the coastguard members and the fun he had staying sane by playing rugby. The memoir includes 62 pages so it is a fairly quick read that members will really enjoy.
