This does sound like an interesting view on rape victims as well as there loved ones. Must books that I have read a long this line most only reveal only issues surrounding the victim. Yet it does have ab effect on their loved ones as well.

As a man I would really like to know what men think when they "rape" a woman. What do they think it is? I see the pain and the effect of it in women. And I think men do not understand this. Good review.

This sounds like an inspiring read. The fact that the author could overcome such a trauma, write about it and advocate for change is amazing. I will be reading this book! Thank you for the review.

I have a friend who was raped and for months, she refused to talk about it. I can remember the effect it had on all of us as we were all at University together, I remember some of us not being able to step out or even use an unknown taxi at night. I remember how she hated the look of pity we sent her way and even how a rape scene in a movie was a trigger. I can assure you, it's painful to know a rape victim, especially when the person is dear to you and you have to watch them suffer emotionally and psychologically! I wish I'd known this book then, maybe she would have found some quick solace in realising she's not alone. She is now married with two kids so i know she was able to move past it. All the same, great review!!

Rape to me, is one of the most damaging crime ever. I sympathize with every male and female that has ever suffered from rape and I also celebrate the author for been courageous enough to put her story out to the world.

I applaud the author for sharing her story with readers so that they can gain some understanding as to what she went through and how she worked to overcome it and heal. I appreciate that the author doesn't just tell the story from their point of view, but incorporate family and friends as well because this impacted them as well. I don't read a lot of memoirs, so I'm on the fence about reading this book. I'm disappointed that the author chooses to throw that odd chapter into the book instead of saving it for last. It sounds like a mild lapse in judgment, but I think that those who choose to read this book will find it insightful.

What a terrible phase it must have been for the author! I like that the book takes on the perspectives of family and friends of the victim, and that she remained resilient to the very end instead of allowing her plight keep her permanently disillusioned. The topic is too deep for me, but I applaud the author's courage in sharing her story. Thanks for the review.

The strength and courage it took the author to write today's BOTD is admirable, and she deserves our attention. Told from the POV of friends, family, and the victim, herself, this inspirational memoir will help those in similar situations move on in a healthy manner. Thank you for the free copy. :-) Great review!!

Thanks for the great review. You captured the novel perfectly without giving too much away. What a terrible thing to have happened to the author. It’s a very different approach to not only speak about how it affected her but the friends and family as well. I’m sure a lot of people who may have been through the same thing would benefit from reading this, knowing they are not alone and that they will be ok

"Voices of Hope by Kristine Irwin tells the true story of how the author was raped, the effect it had on both her and her loved ones, and how she finally succeeded in moving on not just as a woman, but as an advocate for other victims of sexual assault."
I must commend Kristine for writing this book. I'm sorry you experienced this, and I'm happy for who you are now, a success helping other victims.

This is a hard topic to write about. I hope that the author, and her friends and family, were able heal some through the writing of this book. I appreciate that the author asked others for their perspective on certain events, as everyone has their own version of a story. Thank you to the author for writing something that may possibly help another.

It's very admirable that the author was able to move forward from the tragic events. A woman of true courage. Memoirs are such emotionally moving books. A book worth reading from the thorough description given in the review.

This menoir tackles the difficult subject of rape and not only how it affects the victim but also the impact it has on their loved ones. This most terrible violation can tear lives apart and that the author shared this and the fact that there is life after sounds truly inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing with this great review.

It takes an act of enormous courage to write a book about such trauma. I highly appreciate Irwin's strength to expose her hard path to recovery in order to help others too. Thank you for your review!
