Prison reform is yet another topic relevant to today’s environment. The age at which children can be tried as adults is getting younger and younger. Perhaps hearing the story from the viewpoint of the mother of one such child will have a greater impact. It is astounding that Davin was able to overcome the trials and perils of prison life to make a difference for himself and others. Thank you for the excellent review.

Well, the book is a reflection of how weak the justice systems are in providing justice to all. In most cases where convictions are secured, an innocent soul suffers.
I have seen that this matter has been raised on your review. Congrats on this review

I like non-fiction as a rule, but unfortunately not this kind. Live is hard enough as it is, I don't see any need to add to it by reading harsh survival stories. To me they are not inspiring, rather depressing.

I am not usually one to read a memoir sort of book, but I do like historical fiction. This seems closer to the mother's claim of being non-fiction than anything else. That being said, this sounds like a book that needs to go to the top of my TBR list. Davin and his mother are some of many that are lost in the vastness of the criminal justice system in this country, and their story deserves to be heard, regardless of whether he deserved to be in prison or not.

This is an interesting book about an often ignored social issue. I’m curious to read about the mother’s story. Kudos for an excellent review.

That’s a very interesting quote to choose from the book. It definitely gave me something to think about, but I’m not sure that I completely agree with it. I’ll have to think on that some more.

This is an inspiring book. This book sticks to the mind of readers long after. The memoirs in this book are captivating. I'm going to check this one out. Thanks for this beautiful review.

My heart always goes to those unjustly imprisoned. Their lives were destroyed irrevocably because of corrupt people behind the justice system. There is always learning to be had from nonfiction books. Congrats!

Thanks for the insightful review of this book. I don't think that this will be a book that I add to my list of books to check out. When I first read the blurb I thought that the book was being written by Davin himself. That while he had time to reflect and experience things in prison that this book was being written by him. The book being written by the mother causes it to lose some effectiveness for me. I think that she probably does her best to capture his experiences, but it also sounds like she makes herself the focus of the book as well. I think that others will enjoy this book, but I don't think it will be a good fit for me.

This book is inspiring with great lessons to learn. I'm not familiar with prisons and sentences, but I think this book will be a good start. Thanks for the insightful review.

As a child I was reading Jack London and after his colorful descriptions I swore never again pick another survival story. Seeing that word in your review was enough, but then you mentioned prison as well... Definitely not my book.

I'm glad that you liked the book so much and that it opened your eyes to the reality of prisons. However, it does not seem like a book that I would read. Congrats to the author on the 4/4 review.

This book hits home for me, and I know a lot of people it definitely will. I am very interested in this book and am very captivated by the feelings I have with all that's going on. I say anybody with a family with a history of trouble can find this relatable.

This sounds like a really emotional and thought provoking story. I'm sure it was really hard for Bonnie to write. Great and thorough review!
