Behind every successful man is a woman. This saying seems true in Earle's case. That 88 people offer their praises for him is admirable. I think a good though unoriginal subtitle for this is, "When a Woman Loves a Man." How wonderful to see a couple grow old together and remain "in love."

Thanks for the thoughtful and honest review. I do enjoy biographies from time to time, I don't think that this book will be a good fit for me. There are some elements that pique my interest from the blurb, but the overall book doesn't speak to me. I think that the book is written in an essay format deters my interest. I'm sure that others will enjoy this book but I will be passing on reading it.

Give me my flowers while I live. Linda Eatmon-Jones is honoring her husband while he can still appreciate it. The number of people who contributed essays says a lot about Earle Francis Jones and his accomplishments. Wonderful review.

What a labour of love to create for/about one's husband! Thus is a beautiful collection of essays on subjects such as Family, Church, Education, The World of Work, and more surrounding Earl's life.

Thank you for the review. While this kind of book is not meant for someone like me, this collection of essays about the author's husband seems to appropriately honor the life of a person who has done a lot for the black community.

What a lovely tribute to her husband, I particularly like that she was able to commission essays to be written about him by people in their community. This is not something I would normally read but I'm glad you enjoyed it.

"Touchstone" by Linda Eatmon-Jones is a non fiction book compiled of biography and essays of her beloved husband Earle Francis-Jones.
The writer had many valuable life lessons and experience of Earle parents and grand parents. Most of all the importance of his relationship with God and family.

Generally, people will be famous for one particular thing, either as a good family member, or as a pioneer in the work they do. But as the reviewer has said, Earle's wife has collected essays from different people involving different parts of Earle's life. And I think that's remarkable. As the reviewer says, "it's a labor of love", which makes it all the more sweeter.

It's beautiful that so many people thoughts could come together into this pseudo-biography.
