John Costello narrates the intricate dilemma of his life while trying to become a well-versed individual in his book, Executive Hoodlum: Negotiating on the Corner of Main and Mean. His life is eventually portrayed as a challenging walk on a tightrope with a successful life that is financially stable on one side and an unprosperous meager life on the other side, whereby an ill-fated decision could be an everlasting predicament.

I found this book particularly intriguing. It's one of those books that give the reader an all-inclusive insight of how harsh and chaotic life can be on some people. Living without an integrated and united family can be disheartening as the author himself expressed throughout the book. Nevertheless, the author's life story incited me to cherish how blessed I am to have a caring and devoted family.

I liked the fact that the book is written in the author's voice for it gives the reader a more profound and impactful understanding of his life. I took pleasure in the high readability of the book, not to mention the author's commendable writing style that draws the reader's attention from start to finish. In my opinion, most autobiographies tend to be tedious to read; however, the author entices the reader by efficiently underscoring the most important and remarkable episodes of his life.

Furthermore, I was peculiarly enthralled by the author's propensity for simplicity and clarity while writing for it enhances the reader's comprehension. Something that I didn't find significant though, was the way the author would dive right in talking about his job and business life in great detail as if the reader had some expertise in the field.

This book is a good read for those who like well scrutinized autobiographies that emphasize on what it takes to achieve personal success and attain a professional work ethic despite adversity. If you're intrigued by people who struggled in life and faced much hardship because of their condition, to finally become successful, then this is the book for you.

Finally, this masterpiece works as the perfect piece of evidence that allows readers to envelop the true meaning of forbearance in life. I believe the story of John Costello can help people deal with hard circumstances in life for it highlights how crucial fortitude is. It's noteworthy to mention that the book is well-edited to a great extent and it provides the reader with photographs of Costello's family and acquaintances. Keeping everything in mind, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars.
