I don’t usually read memoirs....
I don’t usually read Cult genre...

I am more of a mystery psychological thriller kind of gal. However, once I was lured in, it was hard to break free from this fascinating read.

Sound good? That is what Elizabeth, her mom, and countless others thought of George Sharkmans dynamic persuasions.

This true tale was superbly written by author and former cult member Elizabeth Bouchard. I was totally captivated by how, Elizabeth, an exceptionally bright scholar was taken in by cult leader George Sharkman. This book journeys from Elizabeth’s childhood through adulthood. Interestingly, the more I read, the more I could relate to her,and the experiences that led this brilliant, self sufficient, and successful young women down a dark and twisted path. I also thought this book did a wonderful job showcasing how a delusional, socially defiant, abusive mom can have so much influence in a daughters life, and the devastating results it can produce. Mostly, I was impressed with how Elizabeth was able to transform all her traumatic and negative experiences into helping others. I highly recommend this book for those who want to delve deep into the human spirit.
