[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Last words from above" by Jeremy Brown.]

Jeremy Brown's Last Words from Above (Medicine for the Spirit) is a non-fiction Christian book of inspirational quotes. The information within this book is the product of the author's daily habits of meditation and journaling. Mr. Brown spends the beginning of each day in a quiet location, listening intently for words of wisdom from Heaven. Once they have been received, he copies them into his journal. In Last Words from Above, Mr. Brown presents these inspired sayings to the world.

The book opens with a detailed prologue, in which Mr. Brown shares the events that inspired him to become a writer. The prologue also provides a backstory of sorts that explains his reasons for sharing the material within this book. I believe that this was an excellent opening that lent a better understanding of the writer and gave a clear expectation for what was to come.

The format of this book is somewhat unique in that it doesn't have separate chapters or sections (with the exception of the prologue). Last Words from Above is, quite literally, a list containing over one-thousand individual quotes. The quotes are individually numbered, and loosely placed together by topic (several quotes dealing with the same topic are generally listed in succession). I was quite grateful to the author for the numbering, as this feature enables the reader to reference individual sayings quite easily. In fact, this was probably my favorite aspect of the book, as I could simply write down the number of the quote that struck me and return to it later (and there were quite a few of those!)

The quotes themselves are unique and offer insight on many topics. Collectively they are all thought-provoking, but of course the significance of an individual quote would vary based upon the reader. I personally found many of them to be relevant to my life, and I am certain that most readers would be able to pick out a handful of sayings that are personally meaningful.

My sole criticism (and least favorite aspect) of this book is the obvious lack of professional editing. There are grammatical errors of every kind throughout the book, mostly in the form of misplaced words, fragments, and run-on sentences. It's painfully clear that this book was not reviewed by a professional editor, which is truly a shame. The material of this book could appeal to a large audience, but the multiple errors would likely turn many readers off.

Overall I did enjoy reading Last Words from Above, and if not for the grammar issues I would have awarded a full four-star review. As it presently stands, however, I can give no higher than 3 out of 4 stars. This book will obviously appeal to Christian readers, but I also believe that it contains a great deal of material that could appeal to everyone. I would recommend this book to anyone who possesses an openness to new information and an appreciation for diversity of thought.

A Christian book containing inspirational quotes sounds original. Good of the author to share his reasons for the collection. The format does sound unique. Too bad about the lack of editing. Not for me, but I am glad you found the quotes relevant to your life. Thank you for the review!

Well, the way you described the book, it sounds like the book "Granthavalee", written by Kabir Das, to me.
A book wherein no individual or separate chapters, neither characters nor any plot, just you, yourself and your thoughts on your daily-life; hmm, it seems very interesting to me, but on the other hand, it will be quite bothersome to deal with those massive Grammatical mistakes which you've mentioned in the review.
Overall I really wanna try it once and see the result for myself.

This seems like a good book for anyone who is into meditation. I wonder if the majority of this book is Christian-centric, or if some of it could be accessible to other belief systems.

To be honest not really my kind of book
There's no characters to get attached to no plot to make u anxious for the next chapter & religiously a tiny offending to me as a Muslim
But some might seek it for wisdom & inspiration to each their own I guess

This is a very well written review. I agree with the 3/4 stars; I noticed grammatical errors and run-on sentences as well. Hopefully, the author will take this into consideration. Otherwise, the book will definitely appeal to Christian readers.

For me, quotes have a magical way of allowing me to see things about myself, others, and the world on a different level. From obstacles and roadblocks to victories and successes, they allow me to connect and reflect on my own life journey, and I love that! Thank you so much for your review!
