Purandar A. Amin’s Fearless Thinking, Stress-Free Living is a self-help book that considers one of the most widespread problems of our time: stress. Stress in our lives depends on various reasons, including wrong mindsets, the influence of society and its rules, anger, and desires. In his book, Amin aims at offering a new way of thinking. He wants to help his readers to get rid of negative conceptions and to know themselves better. To do this, he writes each chapter as a letter to his wife, where he exhaustively discusses each topic.

Fearless Thinking, Stress-Free Living is a remarkable book for many reasons. The first is that it allows people to make a personal journey to discover themselves. As this is the necessary starting point in every self-analysis, I appreciate the importance Amin attributes it. He then invites his readers to observe their bodies and explore their minds to become aware of what is good for them and of what is bad. He teaches how to recognize the reasons for stress and overcome them. His scrutiny of the negative influences that affect our lives is intelligent and profound. Amin is never lost in preconceived ideas and never gives superficial advice. On the contrary, his remarks are quite philosophical, even though he never abandons his informal tone.

I value the originality of many of Amin’s conclusions. The most surprising for me is the one about fear. People are concerned and afraid of many different things, and their fears prevent them from doing something and being happy. But fear, Amin claims, is just a thought, so it is less dreadful than it seems. Actually, it does not even exist, so there is no reason to be afraid.

I have to add that Amin’s style is perfectly suitable for this book. With his simple, plain writing, he truly inspires serenity and harmony in his readers. This detail also gives me the impression that Amin considers the conversational tone of Fearless Thinking, Stress-Free Living as important as its message.

I have not found any downside in this book. It is clear and precise, and its explanations are simple but useful. Furthermore, the addition of the “exercises” at the end of each chapter makes it a practical guide that really will teach something useful to its readers.

I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to anyone who is concerned about the negative impact that bad habits have on their lives and who wants to amend them. At last, I have to notice that Fearless Thinking, Stress-Free Living is a well-edited book – another sign that it has been painstakingly written.
