Pages in my Life by Albrishia Lyons is a book for people seeking to discover the truth about themselves, their family members, and their significant others. Topics include loving yourself, healthy relationships, cheaters, intimacy, parents, parenting, and heartbreak. This short workbook invites the reader to explore introspection, discover their deepest desires and insecurities, and find ways to overcome problems within and without their relationships.

I initially thought this book was going to be full of poetry, but through reading, I found that was not the case. There are a few poems throughout the book, but most of the content is centered around adult topics regarding relationship issues.

I was pleasantly surprised by the creativity of the author. Lyons covers every topic you can imagine when it comes to interacting with yourself and others. Each topic is described first; sometimes with a poem, mostly with a brief introduction, of what constitutes the meaning of a topic; for example, “personality”. Several subtopics follow the main topic, like “self-love” and “self-hate”. Each of these topics consists of questions to work through, think about, and answer to allow the reader to come to an understanding of their true thoughts and feelings on these subjects.

Additionally, Lyons provides a word search puzzle after every exercise for readers to complete. The puzzles contain words from the topic that you can find and circle. I thought this concept was a unique addition to the book and made it interesting and fun. As adults, we often forget how to be like children, so I think encouraging readers to “play” after thinking about questions that can contain some pretty heavy subject matter like cheating, is good for maintaining the healthy psychology of individuals struggling through hard times.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. The copy I received for review was not the professional draft, so I only have it to go by for my decision in rating. The copy I received had numerous grammar issues which forced me to deduct a star. However, I loved the questions, games, and creativity the book contained and I found the topics to be helpful (specifically for adults) in their exploration of various stages of life and relationships. I wouldn’t recommend the book for children because it deals with issues regarding sexuality and mature matters, but I think most adults would enjoy learning more about themselves while having a little fun in the process.

I wonder if this is just meant to be used at a personal level or if it is more aimed at couples or even work situations? It is a novel idea with the reinforcement through word puzzles. This is an interesting concept.

I find it interesting that the author actually adds a word search puzzle. This sounds like a good topic for today's world. I just don't think it's something I need. Kudos to the author for being so creative, though.

Pages in my life by Albrishia lyons is a short work which invites its readers to self examine themselves and find out their deepest desires and insecurities as well as find ways to overcome these difficulties and these problems should be solved by oneself and not depending on others. The topics which dominate in this work is loving yourself, healthy relationship, cheating, intimacy and heartbreak.Discovering oneself is important according to the author, and this would lead to discovering the truth about yourself. The writer is a creative one who adds the word puzzles after every exercise and it makes it further interesting. This is a good work to go through by all adults

I guess it can be used for both, the concept of the puzzles is very interesting. I would love to read it with my best friend and reading buddy.

It's interesting that the book has elements of self-help and poetry. It is too bad the copy you read lacked professional editing. Thanks for your great review!
