Finding A Job in Tough Times by Dr. Tim Johnson is not your regular inspirational book. When reading this book you're not going to get the answers directly, but instead, you will get advice and a series of questions that will help to get better in interviews you may have in the future. So I would rather define this book as a Workbook where you get to know yourself as a professional.

The author explains diverse subjects along with the book. It first instructs you to ask yourself what do you expect from your career and what your dream job is. He insists that in order to achieve a good first impression in an interview you need to prepare yourself by knowing your personality traits and your skills and how this is only accomplished with a lot of self reflexión and critical thinking.

When reading Finding A Job in Tough Times you'll find yourself facing a series of exercises that would open your mind to think about what a job is really about and what you really want in life. The insight the Doctor teaches is not something they teach in classrooms. This is information you only get once you're out there looking for a job. I consider this workbook perfect for people who are new to the labor market and people that don't have a clear idea about what to expect from the career they are studying. However, the truth Is that everyone can benefit from this book and become a better employee too. I know this might not make much sense for people who already have a well-paying job but they can also benefit from the exercises on this book.

However, I don't think this book would be enjoyed as much for people who just want mágic advice that would help them get a job right away. This book demands a lot of work and time. So if you're looking for a quick and magical trick without much effort, you may not be interested in this book.

Like I mentioned before you won't get all the answer but you would get the tools to get all the answers. And that is my favorite part of this book. Now talking about something I didn't like I would have to mention that sometimes the author's explanation of the exercises was a little repetitive and even unnecessary but that is just my personal point of view.

The editing was great and the book is free of slang and profane language. So all aspects considered, I would rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I completed all the exercises and I was able to see myself through interviewer's eyes. This has helped me to understand what skills I need to keep improving and what personality traits I need to address.
