Eggstravagant Easter Eggs is an instructional book by author Maya Elston. In this book, Elston meticulously teaches readers the best ways to prepare decorative eggs for Easter. Elston offers a great deal of detail and information in this book, discussing all the options from the type of egg to the various styles that can be created. Throughout the book, Elston provides instructions on a variety of different styles and materials, allowing the reader to explore a multitude of options.
What I liked the most about this book was Elston’s attention to detail. There are a substantial amount of photos with descriptive captions. Thanks to this, the reader has a clear visual of what Elston is trying to convey. In addition, Elston pays attention to and addresses any issues the reader may come across while decorating the eggs. She offers detailed instructions with alternatives to fit whatever situation the reader is facing. This attention to detail ensures that the readers feel confident in their abilities and allows them to find answers to any questions they have within the book itself.
There was nothing that I incredibly disliked while reading this book. I felt intrigued while reading and couldn’t wait to follow her instructions to decorate my own Easter eggs. Elston uses pictures of eggs that she decorated herself and writes in a comforting way to incorporate a personal touch to the book. In the introduction to the book, Elston makes a note informing the reader that it is okay to feel clumsy while decorating eggs. These kinds of notes inspire and instill the reader with confidence, making it a fantastic book to read.
While reading, I did not find any typos or grammar errors. The book appears to be professionally edited. The sentences are well structured and are easy to read, so the instructions come across clearly. Despite the lack of organized, numbered steps, the instructions are quite clear and easy to follow along with.
Overall, I give Eggstravagant Easter Eggs a 4 out of 4 stars. The book is very well written and well edited. The choice to give instructions in a paragraph format rather than a standard step by step gives the book feel more relaxed than clinical. Elston has done a fantastic job creating an encouraging and entertaining guide to decorating Easter eggs. The detail is marvelous and encourages the reader to try all the different styles Elston has to offer.
