The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the most precious gift to Christian believers. It is precious because it presents God’s gratuitous gift of salvation through Christ. It all begins by answering the call. Those who have answered the call to follow Christ are then given the mandate to preach about God’s gift of salvation to others as well. While not all are called to quit their routine activities and families, everyone is called to live above the average lifestyle. In Feed My Sheep, the author, Pastor Al Tunde Adeluwoye, takes the reader through various subjects related to salvation. The book is approximately 250 pages and contains 15 chapters.

Biblical teachings, like any other teachings, when passed orally as folklore stories will gradually be distorted with time. Consequently, Pastor Al Adeluwoye decided to present these precepts in a book. This is not a treatise on the roles of a shepherd, pastor, but more of teachings aimed at improving the daily life of a Christian. The author addresses modern heresies head-on. He beckons the call to examine contemporary Christian teachings and the need to redress errors, like the watered-down definitions of faith and salvation.

I believe the first step towards the spread of errors is when the source of the information is distorted. Therefore, I was delighted to see the author used the Bible as the key reference throughout the book. Every argument was backed with sufficient scriptures. The author also admonishes the reader to refer to the Bible and read it regularly. The tendency of many believers to be passive is highly discouraged. Profound truths are revealed about various disciplines such as prayer and fasting. There are a lot of things that our itching ears would like to hear, but the problem with these things is that they may not be true. However, Pastor Al writes what scriptures say, for example, he notes our prayers may not always be granted every time but that God will eventually do what is best for us.

What I liked most in the book was the use of the Bible as the primary reference. The book was also compiled in such a way that new believers will comprehend it. Those who have been believers for some time will also have a lot to absorb as they journey with the author in the process of spiritual growth. Answers are provided for questions that may be raised. The chapters were fairly brief and were divided into subtopics which made reading the book a bit easier as well.

The book was edited well although there were a couple of typos that I discovered. Another error that I noted is where the author states that King Josiah ordered the arrest of Prophet Jeremiah. I have not read about such a narrative in the Old Testament. I tried searching for it, but the results did not yield anything close to it. Such an error may spread widely though it is untrue. Therefore, I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. I recommend it to all Christian believers. It will appeal most to those who are striving to grow spiritually. Those who have questions concerning the Christian faith may also read the book.

Thank you for your review. It is so important for books such as this to be biblically based. Interesting note on the arrest of Jeremiah - I am curious to research this now.

thanks for the review, i like books that redirect men to their focal point which is their maker(GOD)because we live in a world where people rely on their own intellect instead of GOD and have gone astray but with the help of this book am persuaded that many lives will be redefined.thanks , j kudos

I also appreciate the primary reference being the Bible. I like things being from a reliable source and not lost in too much translation.

I am glad that you noted that King Josiah did not order the arrest of Jeremiah. It is really important to check what the Bible says for oneself. I took a quick look to see for myself as well. Thanks for the review!
