Finding A Job in Tough Times by Dr. Tim Johnson is a workbook which assists one in job search. It is very helpful for newly graduated students, freshers and decent-experienced people out on a search. Having gone through various jobs, the author takes his efforts to summarize the job search methodology by self-reflection. His experiences given in the biography part of the book serve as an inspiration.

The book is divided into modules, focusing on the past, present and the future. In the former part of the book, Dr. Tim Johnson forces the reader to acknowledge what went wrong or right in the past, how they are affecting the present and how they help us in the future. His rigorous exercise modules make us dive deep into ourselves and identify our strengths and flaws. Not just that, but the book also helps us to re-invent ourselves by asking us to go through our goals again in the latter part of the book.

The author keeps inspiring us throughout the book. His words, "Start dreaming. Real goals start out as wishes," push us to test our extremes. In today's world, where we are held back from achieving our goals by our self-believes, his exercises help us to have a clearer picture about our skills and plans. And also, he repeatedly urges to come out of our comfort zone to attain the higher skill and knowledge levels. This is particularly helpful to people who are struck in the same kind of job and want to come out it, but fear the unknown.

The best thing I liked from the book is from the chapter of "Never say No." The author asks us to not to say no to anything or anyone for a day and check the results. And I must say, this has worked out in a great way for me in getting new opportunities. There are a plenty of exercises focusing on the resume and skill building which help one to develop themselves in pursuit of their job. This book works amazingly good to boost up the morale of re-starters as well through the same exercises.

Finding A Job in Tough Times packed one solid read in a matter of around hundred pages. Never have I thought that this small book will affect me to the extent as to how I perceive myself as a person. Also, what made the book more enjoyable is the fact that it seems professionally edited. For all that's mentioned and more, this book is definitely a worthy workbook with 4 out of 4 rating. For all who are out there searching for job, this book is where you start to rate yourself. Go pick it up, without a doubt.
