Having difficulties finding a job? Finding A Job In Tough Times is a non-fiction book by Dr. Tim Johnson. His workbook is a collection of simple but very critical tips and guidelines that are of great aid to helping you secure a job. The decision is all yours and I suggest you start now reading carefully this great recipe.

The author has organized this workbook in a way that every interested reader would find it beneficial. Topics are broken down and systematically analyzed with clear illustrations, making it easy to understand and interpret the message with ease. After reading this book to completion, you'd agree with me that the class was enjoyable and informative. Attempting the exercises provided after every lecture will lead to a successful completion of this course. The achievement will be yours.

It all begins with answering the question, who are you? Dr. Tim Johnson challenges that it doesn't matter, you been a college graduate or a member of a minority group. The fact is, you looking for a job. He argues that the knowledge of physical description and personality is key to start with. This helps you to get a sense of who it is the employers are seeing when you apply for a job. You could get a rejection on your first job application, but it's said that the rejection could be your stepping stone to the next job you going to apply. You only need to recall the scenario very carefully while answering the questions, when you felt rejected, how you felt then, how you reacted and what you would do differently.

The author says that college does not prepare you for life, rather for a career. There are no lessons that any teacher can prepare that could encompass everything you need to know to get through life. They only give you tools; the ability to think and reason so that when life presents you with a problem, you can address the issue with confidence. Peruse backward to the most relevant courses or projects you took. They are said to be a demonstration of your abilities and skills. The abilities and skills are what makes you a valuable employee.

What makes you employable? Traits redefine you. The author emphasizes that the kind of person employers want is one who maintains a personal schedule keeping busy and involved. Employers would love to employ a person who has no health problems. To cope with this, you need to be doing body exercises to ensure that you maintain your body in good working order.

Self-knowledge is another aspect. One ought to have known his skills and abilities and have identifiable traits. They are important as they are the impression you want to leave the interviewer with. Then another important aspect that works hand-in-hand with self-knowledge is redefined goals. You are been advised to start dreaming and understand that real goals start as wishes. Be focused on your goal and stop admiring other people's goals and careers unless its where your talents and interests are best served.

The author narrates how his contribution was valuable to the Water Polo team. He wasn't the best team player but he could play well. In work, he says, not everyone is a star but we all contribute. He advises that you should correspond with friends to cheer you up. Where are the jobs? Visit job fairs and trade shows, read the trade magazines; they have serious employment ads. Talk to everyone and find out how they got their job.

I liked these two statements that stated, If we were to think about life as a TV channel, you don't have to watch only one channel. You hold the remote control for your life in your hands. And the second has been, values are one of your most important assets, but they've no monetary worth. The two are so much encouraging and educating.

Overall, this book deserves 4 out of 4 stars. There are no aspects that I would like to improve in this book. This great book, Finding A Job In Tough Times is professionally edited. Dr. Tim Johnson holds various degrees in different fields and thus experienced. He is going to be an inspiration and a role model to many. The book appeals to job seekers, senior students who are just about to step into their career path and those involved in the guidance and counseling fields. It contains a very important content whose application to real-life situations would lead to great achievements. You will thank me for the recommendation.
