The book "Idiom Attack" Vol.1 Everyday Living(Japanese Edition) by Peter Liplak, Matthew Douma and Jay Douma discusses phrases used in everyday expressions for the English language speakers and speakers of the English language. There are different aspects of everyday life treated in the book; from trivial to significant events and they are treated in 25 themed chapters. The book contains about 300+ of the most common and relevant idioms for living through all aspects of life in everyday America found both in English and Japanese. These common sayings are what you would hear from movies, people in reality and perhaps, books as well. You would discover unknown definitions, have practice questions and relatable passages.

ESL speakers are very likely to find this book as useful because of the normal expressions used which will enable them to talk their way through idioms infested waters. They would be able to swim properly with the natives without the fear of an "Idiom Attack." In time, they would be able to use English language idioms in their everyday conversations just like an English native speaker and impress people with their business English.

There is a three step training process that helps one learn new concepts in English with effective translations in Japanese. Step by step processes which come in form of easy to follow sections are separated with topics to make it easier for people who want to select a particular aspect or topic. The illustrations help to boost memorization of idioms and their usage. Each chapter contains concrete explanations, convenient stories and fill in the blank worksheets. At the end of every five chapters, there would be a crossword puzzle. This helps to improve retention and conversational abilities.

The translation into Japanese was put into order such that, learning is made easier for the Japanese language speakers. The translation is specific and aids language learning. There is translation put into meanings of the idioms but it doesn't shift its focus from the intent of English language learning through idioms.

This book is exceptionally well edited and one could see this from the way it is written. I loved the situations put into stories and the discussion space right after. I feel this will help put a light into real life situations. I'll give this book 4 out of 4 stars. There is an absence of curse words which will appeal to so many readers. It is also void of sexual scenes or graphic violence, and thus appropriate for a broad variety of audience.

If you love a simplistic approach to learning, then this book is for you!
