A Thousand Seeds of Joy - Teachings of Lakshmi and Saraswathi by Ananada Karunesh is a very captivating book that enlightens one's soul. When I initially accepted this book for review, I thought it would be just like any other book on Hinduism which introduces the reader to the religion, its norms, traditions, and practices - but it was quite different from my expectation! It has given a new insight into the spiritual journey and takes the reader on a grand tour of spiritual awakening. Reading this book is pure joy.
The content of the book is the conversations and talks between the author and Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess Saraswathi. Isn't it amazing??!!! Conversing with the Goddesses themselves and seeking the answers to the queries! It sounded quite unbelievable in the first instance, but believe me, it gets interesting as you read through the chapters, you think beyond the conventional boundaries. This book needs a great deal of attention to understand and absorb the answers sought from a spiritual perspective. So, do not worry if you feel blank or lost - revisit and read it again.
The book is divided into seven parts. The author throws light on the topics from Hindu epics - Ramayana and Mahabharata and the birth of Buddism. Chapters pertaining to the Chakras and the feminine wisdom of Mahabharata are my favorite. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the topics which are normally untouched in our holy books, like those about Gopis, Radha, Draupadi, and Karna.
I like the way the author has presented the content and the concept - simple and to the point. The conversations between the author and the Goddesses are more like a Question and Answer type, which makes the reader easy to skip or revisit the topic again without much confusion. I have learned new words and the terminology related to the spiritual arena. It opens up a new dimension to the way you look at life, womanhood, and feminism. There is nothing I dislike about the book - no complaints!
This book has a wide reach of the audience and can cater to all age groups. I recommend the book to those who are ready to read it with an open mind. Also, the readers should have the basic knowledge of the Hindu epics like Ramayana and Mahabharatha to understand the concept in-depth.
Overall, Ananda has made a fantastic attempt in presenting this piece of joy to the readers. The book is professionally edited and I did not find any grammatical errors or mistakes. I award this book 4 out of 4 stars.
