The United States of Opoids, is a non-fiction book by Harry Neilson who is also a Healthcare Lawyer. The book is based on his first hand experience as a Healthcare Lawyer. In his book the author has referred to numerous citings, graphs and official data and specific fatal cases that highlighted on Opoid abuse throughout the US.

Whilst, Harry has introduced various aspects of Opoid abuse into the book, he has carefully used key points that "hit the nail on the head" with regard to the system, abuse and its sometimes fatal effects. The author introduces how Opoids began with the Chinese v British Opion war in the 18th century and goes through to explain how China today is a key player in online Opoid supplying to the US market and evading US Law Enforcement. The book demonstrates no matter what is a persons status, levels of life or creed, Opoids do not discriminate the outcome is the same death or destruction.

Throughout the book, Harry Neilson refers to official statistics and historical, up to date and demographic data. The author names and shames, focusing on the Opoids and its effects which are sometimes fatal to the Medical Healthcare who prescribe or administer to the 'Big Pharmas' who cover up in their marketing the reality of how destructive Opoid's can be. The book is an informative reading to anyone interested in the subject, readers from the legal profession, Healthcare workers and Social Workers, survivors of Opoid abuse or someone who has family member suffering due to Opoid abuse.

In my reading what I disliked most was too much was spent on data and graphics, this general information is readily available, although this was not a major issue. It was mentioned on page 12 in a nutshell'In early 1990's was the first wave of Opoid abuse causing death of 1 in 100,000 to 4 in 100,000 in 2010 and in 2010 259,000 Opoid prescriptions were prescribed. I would have like to see more depth into what the side effects cause if not fatal and the exposing of unscrupulous Medics who abuse and prescribe or administer for financial gain.

Harry Neilson's book can make a difference and potentially save a life. Whether it a Dr. who writes out one less prescription, a Nurse who refuses to administer an Opoid dosage, someone who is now on Opoids and will seek other methods to relieve pain, to someone those loved one is on Opoids, the book gives a better insight into the subject matter at hand. This outweighs whether Harry forgot to put in a full stop here and there. I give the book a rating of 4 out of 4 stars.
