I read the book Don't Mind Me, I'm Just Having a Bad Life by Lewis Kempfer and I rate it a 4 out of 4 stars. This book was very well edited and I did not notice any grammatical or spelling errors. The book is meant for adult audiences only, as there was mention of sex and drugs throughout the entire book. There was also mention of some sexual abuse. The content was very mature, but it seemed Lewis tried to be honest about his experiences, which I appreciated.

This was a memoir written about the author's life from the first perspective. I had never heard of this author before, and I wasn't sure about reading a memoir written by someone I was not familiar with, but it was very captivating. I found myself very invested in this young man's life, and was thrown into his crazy world of sex and drugs. It was a world I was not familiar with at all, and the craziness of how these men acted was very shocking. It was amazing that this all happened to Lewis, yet he was able to prevail. His story definitely could have had a different ending, but I was pleased he was able to figure out his path in life, even if it took quite a few years. All along, I found myself rooting for Lewis and cheering him on. If only he had one good friend or family member that stood by him when things got tough, his life would have probably turned out a bit better. The book was 475 pages, but I was amazed in how quickly the book flew by. I was eager to keep reading to find out what happened to Lewis, and how he was able to get himself out of those crazy situations. I was even getting anxious during some of the scenes, especially those involving the psychic he would visit. I wanted to scream through the pages and yell out words of wisdom!

The book was mostly detailing his childhood to early adulthood, and a little beyond; it did not go into depth about his road to recovery and current times. However, he did mention that he wanted to write a sequel, so here's hoping! Overall, it was a very pleasant memoir and it was very informative about the struggles a young, gay man might face in the real world.

Oh! This is helpful. Thanks for the information. I was wondering why the chapters (from what I sampled) covered only the author's life when he was about 4-6 years old. I was starting to think about when his adult life and road to recovery unfolds. Thanks for the review.
