Official Review: All I Know by Ashly Lorenzana

Post by catesschwark »

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "All I Know" by Ashly Lorenzana.]

All I Know is a beautiful collection of Ashly Lorenzana quotes. They are full of insight and great advice. Lorenzana is only 26, but it is safe to say that her wisdom is well beyond her years.

While reading this collection, I found myself bookmarking quotes on my Kindle constantly! The book is set up in chapter topics ranging from love to drug addiction. One of my favourite quotes is, “If you love yourself the most at your happiest moments, there is no reason not to be fond of who you are in the dark.” (p. 85) How many friends and family members, or at times myself, fallen into a dark hole only to wallow in despair? I think this is so wonderfully optimistic.

Lorenzana discusses issues with judging people and being open to everyone in this world. She is blunt and what she says makes sense. Her vision of love and life is practical and at times poetic. On love, she says, “I think there were times when I was so afraid of losing you I forgot I even had you at all.” (p. 23) Many of us have had this same experience. Not just in romantic love, but with anyone you are close to.

I could probably use nearly every quote in this book at some point in my life. One that really stood out to me was, “Sooner or later in life, we will all take our own turn being in the position we once had someone else in.” (p. 47) I think this is very simply put and something that should always be on your conscience. It says a lot, with so few words. Nearly every quote in this book is like this. I can’t rave about her enough! I don’t know if it is because we are the same age that this really resonates with me, or just the fact that I am so impressed with how wise Lorenzana is, but All I Know is one to put in your collection.

There is something in there for every age, every gender, every culture, and every walk of life. You will find yourself being enlightened and inspired while reading this book. It is one that I would recommend to all of my friends, especially those who are just coming to know themselves. I will definitely be reading this book again and keep it as a valuable resource on life.

I rate this book 3.5 out of 4 stars.
