From the start of reading this book, I was able to tell that it would be a very open and honest love story between Susan and Bruce. It is an extremely beautiful book about enjoying and celebrating life while you still can. Not only does this book discuss the end of life process for Bruce but it also shows how strong and caring Susan is for her husband. In caring for her husband and his illness she also struggles with her own medical issues, however, they seem to take a back burner like all wives and mothers personal matters do when it comes to husbands and children. While this seems like such a situation where anyone would be a complete wreck, this book portrays Susan as a very organized and headstrong character who is ready to take on whatever the world may throw at her.

This book is a heartwarming memoir written by Susan taking life and death by the horns and riding it out to the very very end. Bruce was diagnosed with a terminal illness and knows his days are numbered, instead of wallowing in self-pity and fear he makes the wonderful decision to pass at peace with is life and how it was lived, without fear or regrets. This is a courageous decision for anyone and the way Susan has portrayed her experience and her families is incredible. This book would be a fantastic read for any family faced with a similar situation in having to make this kind of decision with a loved one or friend.

This must have been a very heart-wrenching book for Susan to put out for the world to read, and her bravery and courage amaze me. While I do not relate on a personal level to what Susan must have gone through, this book has inspired me to look at death and life in an entirely different way.
Book Rating 4 out of 4.
