Zodiac Signs: Characteristics in relationships, love and career by Smilena Kirilova is an informative book about how astrology can explain our individual behaviour. It contains a variety of sections, including the different zodiac signs, crystal types and their uses, chakra descriptions, Vedic astrology, numerology and even a few short stories about personal enlightenment. It is an interesting read for those that are searching to understand their place in the universe.

What I enjoyed most about this book was learning about the different chakras. I had always been intrigued by them but didn’t really understand what they were. Smilena Kirilova did a good job at explaining each one and how to recognize the symptoms of blocked versus balanced chakras. I was also pleasantly surprised by how accurately the different zodiac signs represented myself and my loved ones during different stages of life. Another benefit of this book is the wide array of information it contains. The author succeeded at collecting an assortment of knowledge and presenting it all in a cohesive way.

While the information was well organized, I struggled with how it was written. There were a lot of grammar errors, but the major drawback was more subtle than that. The vocabulary was intelligent, but it was pieced together in a way that didn’t quite make sense. I would often catch myself reading a sentence without fully understanding it. The wording was very close to perfect, but something was off. This happened often enough that it affected my overall enjoyment of the book. It was like reading a sentence on Google Translate that is understandable but not correct. There were also many passages, often referencing planets or other zodiac signs, that I did not understand and were not explained, such as: “With Pisces in their seventh house, without idealistic views and trust, everything else makes no sense at all.” However, that may simply be my own personal ignorance of the subject that others have no difficulty with.

Zodiac Signs is a quick read with well-organized sections that allow readers to easily find the content that applies to them. The variety of information is extremely interesting and I enjoyed how the author included a mixture of Western astrology, Jyotish and Tibetan advice. Despite the grammar issues, I would still rate this book 3 out of 4 stars because it is an informative guide to amateur astrologists.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is in touch with their spiritual side and to those that are interested in learning more about matters of the universe such as astrology, numerology and crystal healing. I believe that this book can give us a greater understanding of ourselves and the people in our lives. If we are open-minded and willing to learn different ways of living, then the possibilities are endless.

This sounds like a fun read. Zodiac predictions have always amused, even though I know little about the subject. Perhaps this book is an opportunity to deepen my knowledge on the subject. Thanks for sharing.

Astrology, Zodiac signs and all has never been my forte. But I think this seems like an informative read. Beautiful review.
