The Kingdom Has Arrived Volume 1: Foundations by Amy Jean is the author’s memoir, focusing on her experiences with God throughout her life. The author explores many of the challenges she faced during her life, including the deaths of her parents and her health issues. She focuses on the relationship she cultivated with Jesus Christ, giving details of her spiritual encounters. The author writes in a friendly, personal, and informal tone, while she also uses poetry in the memoir to tell her stories.
The author begins by introducing the book and discussing the death of her beloved dog. She then goes through some of her childhood experiences, writing about her great grandmother, who was a woman of God that loved the Lord. The writer then discusses her mother’s early death, which caused her great sadness, grief, and pain. Parallelly, she broke up with her boyfriend, which gave her more sadness. However, she eventually was able to overcome these problems and marry a man she loved, while she also found refuge in her relationship with Jesus Christ.
There were numerous things I enjoyed in the memoir. More analytically, the author used poetic devices and linguistic techniques to engage the reader in the story, making her memoir interesting and exciting. Furthermore, the book was chronologically, rationally, and logically structured, allowing the reader to fully comprehend the author’s story. Moreover, the memoir was professionally edited, as there were no errors in the entire book. The writer also added many verses from the Bible, which were encouraging and motivating. What I liked most about the book was the fact that the writer included beautiful images and illustrations, which created a lively and vivid mood in the text, thereby grasping the reader’s attention.
What I disliked most about the book was that it was boring and monotonous in some cases, as the author was repetitive.
The book is best suited for Catholic Christian female readers who enjoy reading memoirs. Women will prefer reading the book, as they will relate to the writer’s thoughts and emotions. Catholic Christians will prefer the book because the author includes verses from the Catholic Bible, while she discusses Catholic theology in her memoir.
All in all, I rate this book with 3 out of 4 stars. I did not give the memoir a higher score due to its repetitive nature. A lower rating would have been unjust, as the writer created a professional and structured memoir.
