Have you ever lost a custody battle to your ex after a divorce? If you have, then what Monica Szymonik shares in Broken System, Broken Heart will resonate perfectly with you.

The physical and emotional damage that one goes through after losing a custody battle in court is enormous. If not checked, it could deteriorate to a severe mental or psychological breakdown. This book tries to look at the cause of the problem from the lenses of a broken legal system. According to the author, there's a subtle structure in the family courts to favor the wealthy and connected. As a result, so many people have been deprived of fair rulings because they couldn't match their ex in financial power. This situation has left many physically and emotionally shattered. This book went beyond providing a critical assessment of the effects of the loss of custody. It proffers solutions for anyone who has unjustly been on the receiving end of a custody battle.

There were so many things I liked about this book. At first, I thought it was solely for women who have been a victim of a vicious custody battle. However, the author was inclusive in her approach. Though she wrote from her experiences as a woman, she made it clear that the solution would also work for men who find themselves in a similar situation. She did well not to make any gender superior or inferior to the other. As a man, I found the content of this book beneficial. Though I don't wish to ever get into a custody battle, I'm convinced that this book has given me something to help me scale through if it does happen. In essence, both men and women will benefit from this book.

What made this book unique was the author's first-hand experience that came to bear. She wasn't sharing idealistic theories she collated across the internet. She was real and practical all through. Though I saw the level of research that went into putting this book together, she only used them to give factual support to her experience. For me, the practical experiences she shared was what I liked most about this book. She didn't only share her personal experiences; she also shared other people's experiences to show that what she's addressing in this book is a monster problem. I was able to connect to her writing even though I haven't been in a custody battle before.

The author's writing style was simple and conversational. It felt like I was reading a self-help letter from a friend who understands my pain. Anyone who's experiencing the adverse effects of losing a custody battle can get practical help from this book.

Broken System, Broken Heart is a well-written book. I only saw a handful of errors that weren't detracting. Therefore, I rate it four out of four stars. I recommend this book to anyone who has been on the receiving end of a custody battle. This book will help you heal in body, mind, and spirit.

Thanks for your review. It sounds like a book that could be very encouraging to those who've been through that horrible experience. Sounds a bit too heart-breaking for me, but I enjoyed your description of the book.

It is always a good idea to take advice from someone who has walked the road before you. The author showed you in Broken Systems, Broken Heart just what is to be expected in court during a divorce case. It will not only affect the wealthy and partners but also those who are average citizens. The matter itself is draining on the system both emotionally and physically. You as a reader saw that the author was real and practical and did a lot of research together with writing from personal experience. You saw it as a self-help book, which is what those who are going through similar situations may need. Good review.

The legal system has been flawed for a long time and historically, it has usually favored the wealthier party in the custody battles and other kinds of legal disputes. I'd love to read Monica's take on such a sensitive issue. Thanks for the review.

This is something we cannot fix if we aren't first open to talking about it, so I'm proud of this author. I'm delighted to find that it's well-executed and inclusive as well. Thanks for the recommendation!

While I've never experienced something similar to a custody battle, neither myself or through my parents, it seems a very interesting subject to learn about. Great review!

It is sad to read this. The financial ability for sure is a huge thing that would affect the kid's living, but it should never be the only thing to care about.
