The End of your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe

Post by Phillygirlatheart »

This was a marvelous book full of depth, honesty, humor, love and death. This is a book worth reading, you won't be able to put it down. It is not so disheartening it will pull you into such sadness, because when one moment you are sad, you will be laughing next with the family. Schwalbe creates this beautiful story about his mother's journey through pancreatic cancer for 21 months. We also got a ringside seat into Will's relationship with his mother Mary Ann who is a character in her own right. She is formidable, strong, loving and passionate, you cant help falling in love with her. An activist for those less fortunate and a passionate lover of books, we are lead by Will through their literature rich journey. Mary Ann makes a very sad and difficult journey, warm and beautiful. The books they read together are amazing in and of themselves, but the true gift is the journey Will and his mother take with the time she has left as well as her other family members. The tight knit family has a very strong foundation on which to begin and end this path they've been lead down and between tears you will laugh with them, feel their frustrations and marvel at their strength. This is one book worth reading as well as the numerous books mentioned in the book.
