Official Review: Wow God by Cheryl Wilson
During the stressful times we are having in our society, I was looking for an inspirational book to read. WOW, GOD! by Cheryl Wilson was chosen for that reason. This book is a chronological personal recollection of the profound events in her life she saw as miracles. It is beautiful for a person to have such a close relationship with God. She explains what she sees and feels so the reader is right there with her. There were several accidents she and her husband defied the odds by surviving. The question a reader must ask is if the belief in God explains these incidents. As intriguing as these stories are, her life is so much like the average person with family matters and financial difficulties, which makes her relatable. Her faith in God got her through all of these trying times. True believers know He bears the weight of these times.
The inspirational stories in this book are described in thirteen chapters. It was read in Kindle format, so the page numbers were not clear, only location points. Looking at the table of contents, the book is less than 50 pages, so it would be a great read on a Sunday afternoon. The characters are the key people in her life, her husband, children, close friends, and those on the missions with her. The chapters are title in such a way to describe the miracle she is showcasing, for example, Chapter 3 is titled Car Accident Miracle 1976. Most chapters are concluded with scripture.
This book was an easy read and I felt the author was very honest in her writing. Her tone was conversational, and language was unsophisticated. This book would have been so much better if it would have been professionally edited. There were so many mistakes in grammar and punctuation. The mistakes weren't as obvious at the beginning of the book but got more frequent as the memoir continued. It seemed the story was completed at the end of Chapter 12 and then a chapter added. The flow of the book just didn't seem cohesive. The errors and flow were somewhat distracting as the book progressed. Once the book is professionally edited, it would be a very enjoyable read.
As stated, this book is an inspirational and honest story. However, there are so many errors in grammar and spelling, that it was difficult to finish reading. A couple of the spelling errors were words like "shinning" instead of "shining." There were several punctuation errors, including run-on sentences. As enjoyable as this book should have been, I only gave it two out of four stars because of all of the errors and distracting mistakes. The author had really good intentions including scripture at the end of the first few chapters, so I couldn't give it fewer stars. However, much of the message is lost, and the inconsistencies meant I could not award it more stars.
The best part of this book is the complete honesty of the author and compelling stories in each chapter. Concluding several of them with scripture reaffirmed God's presence in her life. What I didn't like were the inconsistent uses of scripture. Each chapter would have benefited from the word of God. This book would appeal to faith-based people looking for a reminder that He carries the weight of our sins. Those that question His existence or are not Christian may not enjoy this book.

I agree, I was also drawn to the book by the title! I love reading faith-based stories, especially when people walk through their own personal experiences.Jachike Samuelson wrote: ↑24 Apr 2020, 16:55 Miracles truly still happen. But the first thing that drew me to this book was its title. That alone makes me want to try it out. Great review!

Undoubtedly, the title is catchy. And being given an insight, I think it's a great book despite the errors.
