Official Review: Men's Health Over 50 by C.W. Piper
For health tips regardless of age or gender, look to Men’s Health Over 50 by C.W. Piper. Advertised as an eBook for older men, the book is actually more of an overall health guide for both sexes and all adult age groups. Though parts of the book are specially tailored for the target audience, a large percentage of the many health tips and guidelines apply to a broader range. The health guide is delivered in a somewhat dry, but by no means poorly written, narrative that flows smoothly and wastes no time in getting to the point.
Much of the book can be, in short, described as an all-purpose guide to healthy living. It’s filled, largely, with recommendations for getting and staying in shape, proper nutrition, healthy and effective weight loss, and careful self-maintenance for various common ailments. As someone who’s done thorough research on many of the topics briefly covered within the small eBook, I can say that the advice contained is sound- no gimmicks, no shortcuts, just healthy habits and planning to keep you going into and through your golden years.
Men’s Health Over 50 does, however, eventually deliver on some age-specific advice. Piper goes over preventative and restorative measures to regain eyesight and protect overall sexual health in men. He warns the reader of what to watch out for- age and (though mostly unisex) gender-specific warning signs to help catch various common problems before they grow to unmanageable size.
The book does, sadly, feel a bit like one long academic essay on general well-being in the modern day. Very little of the information was new to me, and it certainly wasn’t presented in an interesting or new way. Piper said his piece, did so concisely, and moved on to the next matter of business. Again, it’s nothing groundbreaking, but a great pocket guide to taking proper care of yourself.
Overall, Men’s Health Over 50 delivers exactly what it promises. It tells you, based mostly on the best-backed research of our modern day, how to keep your body (and mind) in good shape so that you get to actually enjoy your well-earned retirement. I give it 4 out of 4 stars.
