In his scholarly, well-organized book, Jillion R. Rising gives us a clear historical understanding of what has brought America to dire straits, economically, socially, and politically. The Solution is Political Revolution is a book that, by its very nature demonstrates the incredible rate of collapse and change that has assaulted our world, practically overnight.

The original publication date, January 28, 2020, alone gives a shocking, almost unbelievable insight as to the speed that has brought America, and indeed the world to its desperate plight. Mr. Rising's observations are both obsolete and prophetic at once, and although the tone of the book may seem pessimistic, it actually comes across in a rather positive, almost innocent light to anyone reading from a sheltered home.

The book is meticulously laid out with tables that are loaded with percentages, rates, and time factors. Any accountant would no doubt be delighted with the numerical care given to these and other straight-forward analyses presented in this format. The problem clearly comes from the fact that in a few short months, many if not all of the figures have become obsolete.

As an example, on page 83, the author writes: “It’s important to understand that the Federal Reserve and central banking require banking institutions (commercial banks and other lenders) to hold 10 percent of a client’s deposit while allowing them to loan the remaining 90 percent of their clients’ money.” Sadly, this is no longer the case as the reserve rate is now 0 percent. The dangerous policy described in the book has become nothing short of a catastrophic in mere weeks, as the author himself notes on page 159: “[S]hould a lack of confidence cause the majority of a bank’s clients to withdraw their money, the 10 percent reserve would not go very far in returning their funds before the bank became insolvent.”

Much to his credit, Mr. Rising foresaw a cataclysmic event on the horizon, as he wrote: “There are many things, such as war and natural disasters, that can alter our lives in a moment. We must collectively understand that whenever tragedy occurs, it will require a stable monetary system to help us get through these events.” And so it came to pass that the pandemic did alter our lives in a moment, making much of what he proposes or illustrates a thing of the past. And the need for unity a much-desired outcome.

In and of itself, the book is well worth the read and the valuable perspectives and ideas something that should be a part of every political and economic student's arsenal. His views on the Federal Reserve, for instance, are fascinating and original.

The author tackles many important subjects, which we now understand as a realization of our current critical situation, such as prescription drugs and the practice of medicine. In the span of a few weeks, we have record unemployment, and the author writes of “the importance of our citizenry remaining actively involved in the creation of what I refer to as 'real jobs' in order to sustain our nation’s future.”

Clearly, many of the author's points, if heeded, would have avoided a slew of predicaments that have arisen out of our current situation. The author does not claim to have all the answers, and in fact, challenges the reader to come up with their own solutions.

Because of its immaculate construction, excellent editing, and research, I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars and recommend it to anyone who looks to an understanding of the socio-political and economic situations before the pandemic.
