Official Review: White Collar, Green Flame by Shain Carter
White Collar, Green Flame: A Technothriller, written by Shain Carter, is a science in fiction novel about a group of scientists on a mission to see if there once were species of highly intelligent life on Earth millions of years ago.
The novel starts off where we meet a very wealthy man, Derek Becker. Becker is an amateur paleontologist and is fascinated by fossils. A man, George, comes to see him about a rare find. George has found fossils of a very tiny dinosaur called the micropachycephalosaurus. This is not just any fossil, however.
Then, we meet the scientists that will head up the expedition. Burt Singleton is in charge of recruiting the team. He enlists Ted Krezler, Alec McPherson, Meredith Nelson, and the main character, Dawson Jones. Each scientist specializes in something that will benefit the expedition. He says that the fossil George found is indeed a dinosaur, but it has an unusual metal ring around it's neck. He goes on to hypothesize that there were once highly intelligent dinosaurs that knew how to build nuclear reactors. These dinosaurs knew something was wrong, so they went into space and they are now trying to communicate with Earth. Will the scientists make contact? Will they learn about secrets from the past? Or are they in for something bigger?
White Collar, Green Flame, is a well-written novel. The details are extraordinary and you feel like you are in the story with the characters. For that reason, I give it 3 out of 4 stars. I liked all of the action in the story. I was not too thrilled with the idea of highly intelligent dinosaurs that went into outer space. That was a reason I was first turned off by this book. But, I did not want to judge a book by it's cover, so I read it anyway, and I am glad that I did. Another thing that I had a hard time with this book was the fact that the author went back and forth using first names and last names of the characters. It made it seem like there were more characters than there actually were and it got confusing.
Shain Carter is a wonderful writer and a great story teller. This novel has all the elements to, one day, become a best seller.
