The Life and Legacy of B.B. King: A Mississippi Blues Icon is a biography written by Diane Williams. The book is a narration about the life and the musical journey of the blues icon B.B. King. The book has three sections: The first section tells us about B.B. King's early life and his musical journey. The second section is about his family and relationships. The third section is a collection of interviews with personalities who were influenced by B.B. King and his music.

In this book, the author has highlighted B.B. King's contributions towards making blues an important genre of African American music. King's soulful voice and charisma took him around the globe. He and his musician were known for their road tours and lived on the bus. King succeeded in keeping the blues music thriving during the times when African Americans did not have equal rights. King never stopped learning music and was always particular about the way he dressed and presented himself. Apart from being a great musician, he was a loving husband and a caring father who was adored by the masses.

What I liked most about the book is that the author has given equal emphasis to B.B. King’s passion as a musician, as well as his character as a good human being. B.B. King was a renowned musician, but he did not forget his modest roots. He always encouraged other musicians to embrace the blues music and never stop learning. This book tells the story of a boy who took blues music from the fields of Mississippi to the whole world. The author has added interviews of the musicians who adored and idealized B.B. King. In these interviews, we can see the extent to which King contributed to the success of blues music. The book also explains the different versions of the origin of blues music and its journey.

There is nothing that I dislike about this book. The author has done good research and mentioned all the popular songs of B.B. King, which made him world-famous. The book also states his awards and accomplishments. Diane Williams has added some fascinating stories from B.B. King’s life. The story of how his guitar got the name “Lucille” is especially amazing. The thoughtfully added pictures and notes of B.B. King make the book more impressive.

The book is beautifully written and well-edited. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book and give it 4 out of 4 stars. The book is capable of striking a musical chord in the hearts of anyone who reads it. I recommend this book to adults and young adults. Those interested in music and arts will find this book especially appealing. If you are a blues enthusiast, then this is a must-read book for you.

Nice review! I'm not crazy about non-fiction reads, but you did a good job building it up!

This is a beautiful book about a successful man. I call him successful because he succeeded in his home. He didn't forget about family. That's success.

Well-written review. I always like to read memoirs on other people's lives. Successful or not, they help us introspect. Thanks for the review.
