Official Review: 25 Things Every Young Professional...

[Following is the official OnlineBookClub.org review of "25 Things Every Young Professional Should Know by Age 25" by Danny Rubin.]

This nonfiction book tells some tips to survive the real world, when we no longer have teachers and parents to supervise us every step of the way.

After reading this eBook, I’m thinking… I’m doing a lot of things wrong. I use words like that, in order, and ridiculous all the time. When I apply to jobs, my cover letter is very generic. See? I even use the word very. I use amazing all the time too; I’m only now realizing that it has, indeed, lost all its meaning. And I thought it’s a good thing to multitask everything so chores can be done faster. This paragraph won’t make sense unless you read the book. :)

Having said all that, I believe I should be the one thanking Danny Rubin for compiling these 25 Things Every Young Professional Should Know by Age 25. Now that I know them, another problem would be applying them in my life. But as was said in the book, nothing is achieved overnight. So eventually I will be able to apply them.

I won’t be doing a lot of the mentioned tips in the book for a long time, three years or so maybe. But I’m glad that I already read it, so that I can internalize them and when the time comes it’ll be easier to do them. Although I think this is not just for jobs or careers. Some of the things mentioned can be applied in everyday life for example, sending thank you notes to people who help us. And reading the whole thing before signing your name on the dotted line.

The title says it all. These 25 things should really be known by young professionals, especially those who are just starting in their careers. Some the tips might sound a little cliché but because we hear them all the time we kind of take them for granted. So maybe this book will be a reminder to all of us young professionals.

I’m giving this book a 4 out of 4 star rating because I really liked the content and the formatting and the cover of the book was catchy. I recommend it to everyone not only people in their twenties but people of all ages because they might learn something from it too.

I'm a young professional under 25. In fact, I just started (last month) my first professional job after finishing my BA. This book title really caught my attention. Is it a free e-book, or how much does it cost, because I would like to read it.

I think there is a switch going on in our society where being in your twenties no longer means you have ten safe years for soul searching, but ten years to get it together before the big 3-0. I would love to read this book as I am in my mid twenties and the sense of urgency to "get it together" is greater than ever. Knowing when you're doing ok is difficult without teachers or parents to guide every step. This book sounds like a good read. I would love to get my hands on it.
