Review by glossy cherry -- The Billionaires’ Handbook
The Billionaires’ Handbook, written by Andrew Stevenson, is a mix of sophisticated humor and politics popping here and there. Stevenson is a macro hedge fund portfolio manager, investment banker, and climate risk advisor. He has met his fair share of billionaires, whom he has helped in becoming so. Stevenson has been assisting the billionaires behind the scenes for almost a decade. In this book, he reveals everything that goes into becoming a billionaire.
This book is a guide on how to become a billionaire. Stevenson pretends to be a billionaire and teaches us about the most important rule to follow to become a billionaire, that is: Do not break the rules. How to follow through this rule? It is by making all the rules yourself.
The Billionaires’ Handbook: A User’s Guide to Wealth and Power is a story of the top 1% of people who rule the world. The author narrates frighteningly accurate facts of the nitty-gritty of the world’s economy. Stevenson reveals how the billionaires weave them to their own accord. He addresses politically rough topics such as feudalism, mercantilism, and capitalism as well as sensitive economic policy issues such as cynicism.
Stevenson sprinkles the book with the 1960’s pop artistry references and American politics set in the era of cynicism. Although the book comes off as a comedic riot of dark satire, Stevenson demands attention and a serious attitude towards the changing times. He is putting facts in our faces, which require immediate action on our part. At this rate, it is like spoon-feeding us to change our lives.
The book is a set of rules followed by billionaires. At the beginning of each chapter, there are illustrations of suitable artworks from the past era. The rules are a mix of serious stuff and some lighthearted comedy. Stevenson is urging the readers to realize the terrifying truth. If we still don’t buckle up and get to work, there will be nothing but regret in the future.
Reading this has been a rollercoaster-like experience. It is a sweet slap with hard-hitting facts. It has made me sensitive to world economic conditions. The disarray of the economic equilibrium has come to the fore. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The book is as raw as it can get. Stevenson is not sugarcoating anything. He is merely stating the facts that we already know, but we refuse to address the issue.
The editing of the book is perfect. I didn’t find any typo or grammatical errors in the book. There is nothing to dislike in the book. I recommend this book to satirical politics connoisseurs. If you like reading about world economics and politics, this is one book you should not miss.
