There comes a time in our lives when a person walks to our doorstep and changes us forever. Maybe not forever, but for a period of time, nonetheless. This person will breathe the same air you're breathing, eat the same food you're eating, and use all the resources that you're using. This person is known as a moocher.

Author Alex Anastasia shares her frustrations over living with a moocher on her book Pocketbook of Tips for Moochers. The book provides the readers with tips and guidelines for those who are considering venturing into the mooching business so that they would cause as little annoyance as possible to the people that they will temporarily live with. Each chapter in the book gives a specific type of moocher accompanied by signs, perspectives, and tips. The list of signs will help the would-be mooching victims to anticipate and avoid falling into the moocher's trap. How moochers think and justify their actions are tackled in the list of perspectives. If living temporarily with someone is unavoidable, the book gives tips so that the moocher and the head of the household could live in harmony.

What I loved most in the book is the author's sense of humor. You can feel her frustrations just describing what a moocher does. I laughed out loud on her anecdote about the leftover shrimp not making it to dinner. The readers would definitely be able to relate to most of the stories, and they would probably question themselves if they became a moocher as well at some point in the past.

Although filled with humor, the book speaks of truth. Living off from someone else's good graces is no laughing matter, and it could cause some serious damage to people's relationships with each other. The book shows that courtesy and respect go a long way in making the people you're living with stress-free. Maybe they would even want you to extend your stay. The book is not only exclusive to the future moochers as it can also serve as a guide to the house owners to mitigate any issues a moocher might present to them.

I'm giving Pocketbook of Tips for Moochers 4 out of 4 stars. This is a light but insightful read that can be enjoyed by almost everyone, but this will surely hit home for those who can relate from either side of the coin. The book only has a few minor errors in it, so it’s safe to say that this is a professionally edited piece of work. Are you ready to be a moocher? Then grab a copy of this book, but don't mooch it off from someone.

This sounds like it would be a fun read. Is the book meant to a humorous novel or a self-help sort of book? Either way I can think of one or two people (including myself) who would love this book. Thanks for the insightful review.
