In the Bible, the book of Matthew 15:16, Jesus says, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." The word "gospel" literally means good news. For the Christian, it is both a high calling and a deep desire to share the freedom and joy that he or she has found in Christ. However, most Christians find it hard to share the gospel without sounding pushy or overbearing. They fear accusations of being religious zealots or bigots and lack the Biblical knowledge to counter such attacks on their faith, made by unbelievers. So, very often, even if they are bursting to share the joy of their faith with the people they love, Christians stay quiet.

In My Father's Business, the author Dwayne Lopes expounds the Bible in profound yet practical ways. The book is jam-packed with information and explanations that would strengthen any believer's faith and convictions. Lopes reveals God's message of love from both the old and new Testaments and explains why Jesus came, why He had to die, and how, because of His resurrection, all who believe in Him have the hope of eternal life.

The book also contains expositions that more seasoned Christians would find edifying. For instance, one of the chapters discusses the Biblical meanings of various colors, and another goes into detail about the meaning behind certain number patterns in the Bible.

Having read many Christian books, I was impressed with the facts, apologetics, and Biblical exegesis contained in My Father's Business. However, the most enjoyable parts of the book were the little personal stories, parables, and examples used by the author to illustrate his points. Lopes has a way of making difficult subjects easy to understand, and the reader is sure to have more than a few aha moments while reading the book.

The only problem I had with the book is the fairly large number of grammatical errors. The book is written in the casual style of a preacher speaking to his congregation. As a result, some of the rules of grammar seem to have been sacrificed. However, this did not detract from my enjoyment of the book. The author gets his point across clearly and concisely, making the book more like an enjoyable conversation than a Bible study.

Overall, My Father's Business is a great guidebook for Christian believers who want to learn how to share their faith in a non-threatening way, and also for those who just want to go deeper into the Word of God. It contains no profanity or sex. It is a book meant for Christian readers; however, any person interested in Christianity would find a comprehensive explanation of the faith contained within. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars.

From your review, I can tell that this will be an insightful read.

I especially like the bit where you referred to the fact that the book has a chapter on biblical meanings of colours; that's definitely new knowledge for me.

Thank You for this review.

I am interested to learn more about the meaning behind certain number patterns in the Bible. The casual tone also sounds appealing, especially when discussing the subject matter of not being picky. Thanks for the thorough review!

This book will be beneficial to christians who don't share their faith, which is the great commission, because they fear the opinions of other people. It provides Biblical knowledge to deal with such.
