[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "Better Than Our Dogs" by John J. Murray Jr..]
Better Than Our Dogs by John J. Murray Jr. is a religion and dogs inspired nonfiction book.
This is a short book with only eight chapters and 120 pages. Each chapter includes a story about the author’s dogs. In those stories and with dogs as main protagonists, Murray Jr. teaches readers compelling life lessons. From seizing the day, perseverance, patience, giving more, forgiveness to leading by example, this book has an abundance of positivism. It is an inspiring and thought-provoking book that will tug on your heartstrings but also bring a smile on your face.
This book inspires you to be better today. I adore the unique way the author came with all these lessons. In such a refreshing way, this book makes us think about our spiritual journey. The writing style is easy to understand. The beauty of it is in its simplicity. This is a special and heartwarming book, especially for all dog lovers. The things this author and his wife went through with their dogs are very entertaining, but also emotional. The author’s love for God and dogs shines through these pages, and it is contagious.
There is no profanity or explicit scenes in this book, so it makes it suitable for all age groups. This is a book inspired by religion and religious teachings. If you are not a reader who reads those kinds of books, then this is not a book for you. I would recommend it to all Christians because the author quotes the Book of James, and he is inspired by his faith. I would add that dog owners and animal lovers will relate more to these stories too. Readers from different religions can give this book a chance too. A book with so much positivism, humor, and life lessons cannot harm, no matter your religious background or lack thereof.
I would rate this book with a perfect score of four out of four stars. There is nothing I disliked about it, and the editing is done exceptionally well. I didn't notice any grammatical errors. For those and all previously mentioned reasons, I can’t rate it any lower. I would read more books by this author. This is such a delightful read. I highly recommend it.
"Don’t wait to look up. Don’t wait to be obedient. Don’t wait to be humble. Don’t wait to be kind or show love. Don’t wait to be better than our dogs. Don’t wait. Be better today."
