Racism, nepotism, and stereotyping are some of the evil that has plagued the world since the beginning of time. In Memory of George Floyds: Black Lives Matter by Elliot Richardson and Ella-Marie London is a short non-fiction book written in honor of the late George Floyd who was killed during an arrest this year. The book tries to address the issues of racism, economic nepotism, poverty, slavery, exploitation, and so much more.

The book begins with a little history concerning Spain and when the North Africans immigrated to the country. It then details the harsh living conditions and exploitations black people have been subjected to since the Europeans and Spanish people began their explorations. Many were enslaved and forced to work for their masters, thereby increasing their masters financial wealth while they got poorer. The book also gives a little history of America, how the lands were discovered, and what happened to the native people. Overall, the book talks about several topics mentioned in paragraph 1 in relation to how it affects the world today, and how it could affect the future of the world.

The book contains a concise summary of the history of black people. Many important subjects are then addressed briefly. It also contains several historical events like the Spanish inquisitions and slave trade history. I believe that the book was adequately researched because it contains facts about the history of the world today. How the Spanish rose to power and spent most of their wealth on religious wars was also mentioned. It also contained the history of Spanish and European explorations that led to the colonization of different settlements around the world. I like the fact that the authors also provided lessons to be drawn from history, and solutions to the problems the book intends to address.

The one thing I really disliked about this book was the lack of proper editing. The book contained only 36 pages, but it contained more errors than most books of over 400 pages. The book contained numerous errors from the beginning to the end which was very distracting. The book incorrectly spells George Floyd as George Floyds. The errors made it very hard to understand the book. I had to read most sentences over and over again to understand what they actually meant. The book talks about all the major topics that the authors wanted to address, but the structuring of the points coupled with the numerous errors will make it hard for a reader to understand. I find understanding to be the key step towards achieving anything. Since this book could hardly be understood, most people will never get the lessons and solutions it contains.

I’m rating this book 2 out of 4 stars. I removed one star due to the errors it contained. I also had to subtract one more star because the structuring of the book was poor, and this led to difficulty in understanding. When something that offers solutions to problems cannot be understood, the aim is slightly defeated. I recommend this book to history lovers.

it was a a hurried job indeed, one would have expected less numbers of errors in a book of 36 pages, but the reverse actually happened.

The book did have important topics, but it was a real struggle to understand anything.

George died a few months back, the authors were in a rush to put something out in honor of his memory but this has led to the innumerable errors that you have spoken about. I praise the authors for taking a stand and offering solutions to the worlds' injustices. May Mr. Floyd's soul R.I.P.

They should have really taken time to produce something extraordinary, I still admire their courage. Not everyone can take a stand on the issues of racism nowadays.

I think the author just rushed to production without doing proper proofreading and editing.

I think authors should really edit and proofread their books, especially when they are writing on such heavy topics because the message gets lost amongst the errors. Nice review.

Quality editing should be a top priority for authors, It was really disappointing to find numerous errors in a book of just 36 pages. Thanks for the comment.
