Idiom Attack Vol. 1 Everyday Living (Japanese Edition) by Peter Liptak, Jay Douma and Mathew Douma is a great book for both English and Japanese learners. It has 300 Idioms which are split into 25 chapters. These idioms are well explained in both languages for easy understanding. Readers can learn new idioms, their meaning, and use it in everyday communication.
At the end of each chapter is a small exercise to test the reader's ability. It has interesting stories in each chapter. These stories teaches the reader how and when to use an idiom. Apart from the idioms, this book is great for people who have issues with sentence construction and grammar. The idioms are translated in both languages making it easier to learn both English and Japanese. The author used simple language to assist a beginner familiarize with new vocabularies.
This book can be used by both teachers and learners in a classroom. Tourists who would love to travel to Japan can easily familiarize with the idioms. It is therefore suitable for them while travelling, since it will help them enhance their communication. The stories are short, captivating, and holds readers attention making them want to read more. Any Japanese speaking person can well tackle English, because the author translated every part of this book and explained in details how to use these idioms.
I found this book really indulging. The format used and how the author translated the book from one language to another makes it exceptional. The reader is able to test his or her own knowledge of understanding by doing the exercises at the end of each chapter. This exercise are a motivation to the reader, as you'll be able to know if you've understood the chapter. The book is short and precise, it contains 160 pages. The reader will therefore read and complete it in a very short time. If you're on a vacation and you require something to keep you entertained as well as educate you, this book will suit you. With interesting stories and new idioms, you will enjoy every page as you familiarize with new idioms.
I recommend this book to both Japanese and English speakers. With this book, you'll be able to learn a lot. Anyone who wants to perfect their language, this is the best book for you. I therefore give it a 4 out of 4 stars. It was well-edited, I found no punctuation or grammatical errors. It contains no profanity or erotic content. It is therefore suitable for all ages. The author did an awesome job.
