If you haven’t read a book that brought out all the emotions you have, then this book will certainly do the trick. This is not just one of them stories you read about people having a hard knock life and then living happily ever after, or a rags to riches story. This book will take you through a journey that you can’t possibly imagine.

The story starts off with a young woman brought into the world in the 1950s in pain and difficulty. During her early infant years, she struggles to fit in the proprietary of a healthy baby but gradually overcomes it. Her sister is an asthmatic and so the household of mother, father and two daughters practically spend the first few years of infancy living in doctor’s land. But despite these early difficulties and struggles, they still manage to press on and live the frugal life of the 50s.

After becoming a young and independent woman, she gets a job, gets married and has two beautiful daughters. She gets her dream home, everyone around her loves her. She’s intelligent, she’s smart and she is on top of the world. Surely you’d think her struggles were over but that was just the beginning.

What starts out as a simple sinus infection, escalates to diseases you’ve never heard of, neither can you spell them. The writer describes the pain, the agony, the trials and tribulations of going through illness that just camp in your body. Not being able to do things you take for granted, like breathing normally, having a sense of smell, throwing up anything that enters your mouth and having to walk around with an IV drip everywhere is not a joke. This book will surely open your eyes to different perspective of living in a lifeless body.

I actually cried so hard as I read it as it just brought so much empathy in me. The only fortunate part of this tragic story is that she is surrounded with love. Her family, her friends and colleagues all support her which probably made this journey a little easier to comprehend.

I give this book a super 4 out of 4 stars because the writer uses such simple but effective descriptions of her painful journey through the valley of the shadow of death. I recommend anyone to read this book and be encouraged, be lifted and also have perspective on how her life can teach you a thing or two about your life. Make sure you have a box of Kleenex tissues on standby because you will cry!! This is an excellent book and brilliantly written. Highly recommend to add this to your book shelf.
